Should I get rid of the G35?
Should I get rid of the G35?
Im thinking about getting rid of the G35 for a evo or sti. The G35 looks nice and all, but it is too heavy and slow. I know the G is probably more reliable than the other 2, but those cars are just more fun to drive. Convince me why I should keep the G instead. No need to tell me girls dig it because I have one at home.
Anyone here owned a sti or evo before and regret getting rid of it?
Thanks for your input.

I had an 06 STi stage 2 before my G35. The power was much, much better. But the ride quality and interior leave a lot to be desired. I don't regret the trade, just wish I had considered other options.
I agree with you on the G being heavy and slow. It comes down to what you want more. I myself will be going back to a fast car and getting rid of the G in the next 6 months.

Just depends on what you want, as is usually said.
I'd rather have a more comfortable ride than super fast car. 300 hp is more than enough power for me to go as fast as I need on the road. I drive around very comfortably, and I get compliments on my car all the time.
I'm not into racing anymore. Would rather get from point A to point B in class, style, and comfortability. But as always, to each their own.

If driving > style then I would say go for it. Evos and Stis are built for race, where the G is a mixture of both styling and performance. To each of his own, I'd have a WRX for DD and mod the G for weekend use.
I dont street race or have any intentions of going to a track any time soon. But I do like spirited driving once in a while or just the rush of going WOT when entering freeways with no traffic.
Just sold my final motorcycle and probably not riding anymore. I need a replacement for speed and handling, but the G just dont cut it. Twin turbo is an option but I think getting a evo or sti would be cheaper and more reliable at the end.
I test drove a evo and find it actually more comfortable than the G. Probably because the seats are softer. The leather on the G coupe is so hard and stiff, but it does give support even in twisties.

I dont get people... who bases their car buying/selling decision on what random people on the Internet think? Makes absolutely NO SENSE AT ALL!!!
Youre asking about STIs and EVOs on an Infiniti site....
Youre asking poeple to convince you to keep a car it sounds like you don't want....
I can see people asking the question... "why should I buy a G35?" but not "Why should I keep it".....
Grow some *****, pull the trigger, and get the car you really want! Get off the Internet and go test drive some cars!

I've been in an STI as a passenger and I really can't tell the difference in ride quality from a G to STI...
The shifts are smoother in the STI I can tell you that. And it doesn't make any "popping" sound when you go over bumps like the G does.

Are you aiming at a 4 door car to replace the G?
I've heard of hairy stories about both STi's and Evo's, so take that for what it's worth. The WRX trannys are fairly weak, but I'm not sure how much carries over to the STi. I've heard some interesting engine failure stories though. Be aware both cars may not be the most reliable autos in the entire world.

I have both. Well, actually, G35 is my wife's but I drive it on the weekends. I daily drive my STi and really wouldn't have it any other way. IMO, the STi is so much more fun. The G is much more comfortable and relatively quick so it's much more balanced. The STi is pretty much pure fun. Mine is a 2005 and the 2008+ have gotten softer so they maybe closer to compare with a G35.
All cars have their share of issues. Just look at the oil consumption issues with rev-up G35s. STi's are pretty much bullet proof as long as you don't mod the hell out of em. Most of the major issues like ringland failure are on more modded cars. Stage 2 is pretty much the furthest you should take it if you plan on long term reliability. STi 6-speed gearbox is completely different from WRX 5-speed. As for saying that STi's aren't reliable, that's complete hogwash. There are several with over 6 figures on the odo on IWSTI.com. Go to the pac northwest or atlantic northeast and Subies with several hundred thousand miles are all over the place.
Not that I care, but I get a lot more nods and waves when driving my STi than the G35. G35s are a dime a dozen.

Sure kid. Once you've owned one come back and let's hear what you have to say. The interiors are no comparison. Not even close.
