So i was driving and i switched into the tiptronic and then the car stalled. it wont shift gears and it doesnt show anything where it says what gear im in. when i try to switch back into drive, the shifter wont stay there and it shows neutral if i hold it there. any ideas what this is?

What you need to do is take the center console apart and wiggle the shifter gate a little.
One of the screw's that hold it in place doesn't always thread in properly, so loosen, then tighten each screw while wiggling the shifter. It should go back into place.
I wish I had a picture, but it wasn't my car that I fixed.

It might be your air-filter sensors being blocked or touched can cause it to stall. Not entirely sure, but that is a possibility.

Happened on my car before. Ended up that I needed new shifter linkage as mine was bent after a very very bad pothole.

^^^ I know someone local who had the same problem with an 5AT ... He had to replace shifter linkage as well...

ive seen the shifter assembly break before and it gets stuck in manual mode.....as i've replaced a few of them before.

DAMN that sucks, i have never heard of something like that before!! and also LOL at stalling with a/t that just sounds so bad!!
