*Cries* N-Drop in AUTO
OK...so the girlfriend pissed me off tonight so leaving her house I thought i had the car in manumatic mode so I left her house in a very speedy manor...As I stepped on it from a stop sign I knocked it into N instead of PLUS sign [remember...i thought i was in manual mode...but really it was just in D] So i saw the RPMS shoot up to like 6.5 and im still breaking in [820 miles] and I panic and knocked it back into D at about 4K *cries some more* I know its only one time but the car doesnt understand mistakes...my question is did I horribly hurt her for doing it one time...there is no difference in shifting or driving so.....let me know your thoughts but dont rag on me to much cuzz it pissed me off even more afterwards lol I'm still mad at myself for doing this........

Ralax, it's actually good for the engine to be revved a few times early on in its life. I went to fuel cutoff point at 1000 miles ON PURPOSE :P The engine must be exposed to its entire rpm range so later on it will run smoother at all rpm's. I let it cool for 5 mins between hard acceleration during break in. This is what I do so I'm not saying you have to do it, I'm just saying your car is fine and you should not be mad at yourself

i know a guy that did exactly what you did,
he just blew his motor at 8k miles
he did have a twin turbo thoughm if that makes a difference
(hello kitty!)

Well I would think constant N-dropping is bad for the tranny and not necessarily the engine.

Re: *Cries* N-Drop in AUTO
Yeah, I just did the same thing about 5 minutes ago, did a U turn, thought I was still in manumatic, and then i shifted up, watched my RPM shoot up past 5, and then shifted back into drive. Scared the [censored] out of me, but its still running and fine. I guess it's not good for the tranny if you repetitively do so, but once should be ok. It was only for a split second.
