Hi, I just bought my G35 Coupe 2 weeks back and its black with willow interior. Fully loaded, i have every single option. The other day an SVT Cobra pulled up beside me on a red light, and it was reving its engine.. I know tht the SVT Cobra is faster than my car and because my car is fairly new.. i didnt wanna race, but i did and i was surprised tht i took it 1st gear on the pick up, by third gear he levelled with me... and then i chicked out i guess .. because i didnt wanna push my car before i put atleast a 1000 miles on it, But i was just amazed tht i could take the SVT cobra on the pick up... my car seems to surprise me every day with something or the other..

are u sure that wasnt a v6 stang with cobra badges? lol cause i kind of find that hard to believe that it took a cobra till 3rd gear to level off with you. what kind of mods do you have? what year was the cobra?

 

anything can happen on the street. Not everyone is a professional driver...

A SVT was running at the track last weekend, He ran a 15.19 I ran a 14.5 in my 5AT coupe w/ 19inch wheels, brembos brake,z-tube, and y-pipe

 

Not all Cobras are equal. The current ones are like a bat out of hell compared to previous iterations (390hp!).

04 Coupe Auto/DG/Prem/Nav/Perf

 

All Cobras certainly are not equal, so it would be interesting to know what year model it was that you were lined up against.

The '04's are ~390HP supercharged street legal race cars. The only way you're going to take one of these on the street/strip in a G35 is if he runs out of gas.

The previous generations (<=1998 through '95, IIRC) were NA 4.6L modulars with right around 300HP... a much more "realistic" race.

I was messing with a 2004 SVT COBRA about a week ago. And no, I didn't not attempt to race it. Just messing with it a little. It was a woman driving and her husband bought it for her. And that thing sounds like a monster.

 

My car is STOCK!, i have no upgrades.. I myself was surprised that i took it on the pick up.. maybe because i weight much lighter than he does... and i'm sure it was not a V6 because A G35 Coupe can take the V6 Mustang. I Saw the SVT on the back and it sounded like one too. i still can't believe that i kept up to it.

 

The one that I beat said SVT on the rear and it was new '04, or '03. Manual w/ Black Ford Racing wheels with a chrome lip. Thats all I know, hey I was very happy the first time going to the track and beating mustang GT's

 

Sorry but an 03/04 Cobra running 15's is a fluke. That's a legitimate 12 second car. The guy must've missed a shift or broken something on that run.

I guess a win is a win. But under normal circumstances, it's a highly unlikely that a G can hang with a Cobra.

 

yea, I am pretty sure he can't shift I know the SVT is a monster. However I am still happy that I can beat Mustang GT's and E46 M3's *. In my automatic Nissan!
