drifting 5at

turning VDC off and putting it in triptronic should do it right? (just lose tractions control)

i also heard of dropping it in neutral and reving your engine then dropping it back in drive but isnt that bad for your tranny?

so i guess i just want to know a safe way to drift an auto without harming engine.

yea i know shoulda just went 6mt but i got a steal on my car

There's no safe way to do it. You have a 5at, drive it. You have a 6mt, slide it.

lol please do not revup and then drop it into gear.

using tiptronic is the the right way togo but if you stay in a low gear too long it will still shift up for you, prevents damage.

I think I know a friend who just mashes the foot e-brake to get sideways... needless to say, his e-brake is pretty gone, but it works in his 5AT.

Like the quote above said, "If it's 5AT DRIVE it, If it's 6MT SLIDE it.."

I am assuming that you're doing this in a secluded and safe environment that is not endangering the lives of others.

Well theres two ways that I can think of off the top of my head. You can power over where you just turn into a turn and just mash the gas while in a low gear and hope you break traction, or if you have a lot of room you can try using some inertia and momentum by turning away from the turn and quickly turning back in and mashing the gas (Scandinavian flick).

Do NOT do a neutral drop cause your tranny will be a goner.

5at isn't meant for drifting but you can still have a little fun. Manual is still the best way to go about it though.

Get some headers, test pipe, exhaust.. and a good tune, you might be able to slide that fat azz of yours and finally go sideways. Or else, don't even bother trying. Our G is wayyyy to heavy to even slide for 6mt.. 5AT????? Good luck.

I used a low gear and tiptronic. Oh and rain helps a lot too.

Wayyyy to heavy. And this is like the 10th post about drifting in the past two weeks. Go to Tokyo to drift... Drifting is so bad for everything about your car, so only do it in a rental

I drop it down a gear or two so I'm at at least 3500 rpm, then power over to drift, but if it's a tight turn I like to tap on the foot brake real easy to shift some of the weight to the front, which seems to help break the back end loose. I've got an AWD and it still does the job just fine. If you get good at a Scandinavian flick then that's another option, but it's a little more tricky to get right.
