The few times I've drifted my 6MT it was there were no dropping of clutches or any e-brake pulling. It was just mashing the throttle early on and letting the back end come out naturally and then correcting once I liked the angle I was at. Should be no different in a 5AT it's just your gearing is a little different, but you have a triptronic mode so at least it'll hold a gear.

Start with smaller angles and slowly increase as you get comfortable. If you try to do an extreme angle drift from the start chances are you will spin out. The only "bad" part about the smaller angles is you won't be able to hold it as long as the G doesn't have quite the power from the factory.

Make sure you have a lot of open area with no curbs or poles or anything or your axles/car will be toast if you slide into something.

If your car is 100% stock you'll have some harder time cause chassis flex will make things somewhat unpredictable. I have sway bar sand a rear strut which made a noticeable difference in the cars responsiveness and resistance to body roll.

I have to agree. 5at, use that for road race.

I have friends who drifted a stock g35 with coilovers. The car is not too heavy to drift. Although it's not the best in stock form, it still can be done with good suspension. 5AT... meh.

I've noticed a lot of people have started "drifting". It's all the rage for some reason. I've loved the idea of drifting since I spent a year on Okinawa in 2004. Late at night you can hear tires. In a rental is not a bad idea :-)

Never drop the gear down from N while revving (you're just retarded if u do that)
Never use the E-brake (you're just retarded if u do that)
I'm new to drifting rwd's, I'm more used to quattros and 4wd drifts in rain or snow
I know it's a different generation but it should be the same concept. Also bear in mind we always have 30+ temp here and it NEVER rains, if u have rain then you shouldn't have any problem drifting da dirty minger
This is the problem with 5AT. Clutch kicking is a great way to initiate. Powering over can only give you so much, I've do a combination of entries depending on the track length and speed. With a good flywheel you can clutch kick all day. I've been drifting for a year and a half, my flywheel is fine, the clutch has 65k on it and now needs replacing. I use the e-brake to extend drift, some can use it to initiate. I haven't practiced this yet. Some places need e-brake entries. see an example here at 45 seconds

Sway bars are awesome help. Coilover sway bar combo is awesome.
