cloth to leather interior?
cloth to leather interior?
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I dont have a g35 but my parents are in the process of buying me a car. I went to the infiniti dealership today and saw a new 2004 g35 coupe that i liked. It was a base model with cloth interior and no sunroof. The asking price was around or 29k or somethin (didnt deal with them yet). I am very interested in this car because it seems like all of the coupes with leather is over 33k but my parents is willing to spend under 30k + tax.
what i want to know is if it was possible to bring the car to a shop to have them take out the cloth interior and make it leather instead (if i buy the car) what kind of shop would i bring it to? And about how much should i be expecting to pay? thanks

Re: cloth to leather interior?
Aren't there other accents that are cloth in the car as well? Thing like door inserts etc are usually cloth as well... the way I look at it, save up a little dough and buy the car EXACTLY how you want it. I never understood how people could skimp on a $30k+ car. If you're going to buy it, go all out! Otherwise you'll be kicking yourself forever, trust me. just my 2 cents.

I definitely agree with Jericho on that. Your spending soo much already, you might as well add on the options you want. You are already paying majority of the price.

i dont think anyone would notice the accents on the door and stuff so that doesnt really matter to me.
I would love to just spend a couple more thousand and get the car i want, but i am not allowed to do so(parents). im already pushing the lmits by going a little over 30k. Ideally they the limit was about 25k and tax. If i spent a couple more thousand to get the one with leather and everything, it would probably be over 35K? but if i do that, i might as well "spend a little more" and buy an M3 or somethin(just a point). im just starting college and my parents want me to concentrate on school and not work. so theres not much i can do. I do understand what you are talking about but theres not much i can do if its up to my parents to set the limit. I appreciate the input though.
Jericho...is your front lip oem? looks nice. thanks
Edited by votran24 on 10/05/04 11:13 AM.

Re: cloth to leather interior?
On the cloth interiors, only the seats are cloth. The armrests, doors, etc. are leather. I perfer the cloth seats over the leather. I test drove a Laser Red with willow Leather and the best part of it was getting out of the car. It was just too hot and sticky here in Florida.
Re: cloth to leather interior?
So they will spend 29K or so on the base, then another $1500-2000 for a shop to re-skin the interior in leather and all the hassle of the install... but they wont spend a tad over 30K for the model that comes with factory leather already??? Seems a bit odd to be honest. Why don't you front the extra over what they wont spend and get the leather car. Seems fair to me.

Remember man..the current 04s are going for cheap, so dont think you cant get a leather for less than 30, ofcourse you can, all you will need is some skills..give it a shot, make sure it is the leather base model without premium and you can get it for less than 30..
try it..this way you dont spend the extra cash at the same time get what u want.

Re: cloth to leather interior?
Thats why I am asking....I want to see how much it would cost to put in the leather.
And i said that we didnt deal with them yet, so im assumin it would be around 27 or 28k. But yea...Im trying to look for a base model with leather and without any thing else. so far every coupe with leather I've seen so far is over 34k. But im gonna go with everyone's advice and take my time to look for a base with leather. thanks
Edited by votran24 on 10/05/04 02:49 PM.

Re: cloth to leather interior?
The msrp difference from Base w/Cloth and Base w/Leather is $2300. If there is a larger difference, there may be other options such as Navigation display, Aero Kit, Bose Radio, 18" wheels, etc. that may be included with the higher priced vehicles on the sales lot. Take your time; the 2005's should be making its debut shortly, forcing them to move the 2004's more quickly. If you live near any other dealers, get them to compete. When you get to sales person, have all your specs firm (interior & exterior colors, any or no options), read the specs from Infiniti’s website www.g35.com if needed, so they cannot persuade you to a car that is out of your budget or not even what your looking for. If this is your first new car purchase or you haven’t purchased a car in awhile, read Confessions of a Car Salesman. If things are not going your way, just tell them that your going to shop around, they hate that.
