I'm trying to see if I would gain a significant amount of hp gain from a tune. Currently I have the stillen intake, 5/16" plenum, test pipes, 2.5" custom axle back and the oem midpipe resonator deleted(makes no diff. but thought to include anyway). Im not to familiar with tuning the g's so I was going to wait until i went true dual for max hp gain but now that money is tight im not sure i can, unless i get an X02 which i would be glad to pick up... So would someone let me know if tuning my car would be worth it with my current setup?... im trying to accomplish 10-15hp from this and top speed limiter delete. Thanks.

A tune offers a lot of benefits other than the HP increase. I second jayk!!

 

The X02 will work fine, research Osiris.

 

As long as you are happy run an x02 it will give you as much power if not more than most exhaust systems out there. Running it and tuning with it would be very beneficial to you.

yep yep what he said, plus the added HP doesn't hurt.

 

A "Tune" is worth the cost even if you have zero mods! Mods like spacers, HFC's/Test Pipes and exhaust will only benefit from a tune. On top of a HP increase a quality tune offers flexibility thru throttle response which makes your G way more fun to drive and easier to get in trouble....

So, with a good tune you'll see more HP with or without mods and better throttle response. Are there any other benefits? MPG doesn't get better, does it?

You might get better gas mileage if you could keep your foot out of it, but what fun would that be? I know very few people that bought a G35 cause it got great gas mileage, do you?

You will need a tune after test pipes of HFC's. Look at my a/f ratio on my dyno below. my a/f ratio was way off after test pipes and was way better after the tune. I also have an X02 and did pretty well on the dyno. Stock headers and stock cams. the tq gain alone is worth it.

Those gains are enough to convince me but one thing... id prefer to not have to switch to a different exhaust, but if the gains from true dual are much higher along with the tune it may be worth it, any thoughts or is my current setup more than enough? Also Im assuming some applications are possible to simply retune if I went true dual in the future, am I correct?
