oil burning question....

So if ur car burns a bit of oil what kinda driving conditions does it do it in? For example some cars seem to burn oil off if left idling too long while others if driven hard. Has anybody taken this into account?

Burning oil is usually a sign of bad rings or the lack of a catch can or Air Oil separator system when running a lot of mods

Also another thing that can cause oil burning is if you run conventional for a while and then switch to synthetic. You will burn through oil EXTREMELY fast in this circumstance.

You MAY be burning oil. If you're not noticing any drops in your oil level when you check it then you're fine. If you ARE loosing oil then this could be an explanation for why that is happening. If you dont know if the person before you was running conventional or synthetic and you are burning oil, then at your next oil change try out conventional for three thousand mile. If this doesnt help the burning then you could have a more serious issue, such as issues with the rings.

to: shocker611 I havent checked to see if it is or not but I most def will check tonight last time I did my oil change was 1,000 miles ago so if any missing ill refill and wait till I get paid next week and buy my oil and change it. Besideds checking the POS dip stick is there any other way to know if burning oil? I cant smell any oil burning, or smoke would it leave any residue on the oil? Im not forsure I would even have this problem but it seems like everyone that owns a 2005 G has this issue..

Hmm I mean its really hard to get a definite without doing diagnostics or checking with the dipstick. I mean if you have white smoke coming out your tails then that is a way to know.. Also its not that urgent that you need to get in right away to change your oil. I would wait until 3000 miles.
