Weird acceleration problem

I have an 03 coupe automatic.

I notice recently that when I press on the accelerator real hard the RPM just goes way up without changing speed .. I don't think that's normal is it?

When I drive normally it does changes speed I see it changing around 3 RPM ....

But when I press really hard to go fast ... even from a stop then accelerates ... it looks like its not changing speed .......

The only thing I did was replacing the battery, could that have cause something? Notice also that the window passenger doesn't go down anymore ... that could be because of the battery right? All I have to do is press the reset on the motor?

Thanks,

perhaps your torque convertor is going out.

What if I leave it be? Can it be dangerous? Could it be the fluid transmission? Or its really the torque converter that needs to be replaced.

I had an 5AT, and when I slammed on the gas it did the same thing, it would rev to about 6k-7k until it changes gear. I believe that when you slam on the gas the OD kicks in, and it drops to a lower gear giving more speed. From what it sounds like, that is what's happening. Unless it is at redline and stay there then there are other issues. If that's the case, take it to the dealership to get it checked out. If you are under warranty they should cover it. Good Luck!!!

How many miles do you have on your car? Have you ever changed the tranny fluid? When it's stop and go traffic does it feel like it's "lagging"?

@jef_gutjr: Your description is exactly it. It does rev up until 5k+ ... but I never tried to see it it redlines and stays there....

So are you saying it's normal that it rev up to 6-7k? So the torque converter might be ok?

@dr.g35: My car has near 60k miles. I bought it near 40k miles. I never went for a tranny fluid. When do you have to go for a tranny fluid?
