Gforce Performance chip?
#21
I thought it was scam too but I bought one anyway. The principles that the "chip" works on seemed solid enough so I said WTF. Installed it and the car seemed to perform better and the exhaust note changed. I don't run at the track nor am I about to rent a dyno so I don't know if I got increased power. Sure seems quicker. The proof was my gas milage figures jumped 2 to 3 mpg on my last 4 fill ups. I've been tracking my milage since 2005. My overall average is 19.06. The best I've ever achieved is 23. My last four fill ups have been 21.62, 21.61, 21.78, 22.57 mpg. I have had the dial set at Max. My car is an 04 G35 coupe. Only modifications are a Borla cat back exhaust and a injen cold air intake and a K&N filter. The chip I used was supposedly a GTE from Germany. Who knows but I know it works.

I feel like the only cars that can really benefit from these "chips" are factory turboed cars. Like the BMW 330 (JB3/4), and the Hyundai Genesis... aftermarket "chips" do wonders for those cars, but there's not much you can tell an engine by itself to do differently to make it that much faster. Even then there aren't many cars with factory turbos that have worthwhile upgrades like this available eg. evo, sti.

But Erexx, who you will probably find sells these variable resistors that you splice into the IAT sensor wire, on ebay
All they do is alter the fuel trim map thats controlled by IAT, and this makes a VERY small change, that would only be perceivable to people who have spent $40 on it, and so need to believe it works
