My braking experience- calipers,double pump,pads,etc.03-04 ~> 05-06

2003 coupe brakes~~~>2005-06 brakes

Problem: First day i got my car 2 years ago, I was experiencing the "double pump brake syndrome" (have to step on the brake a second time before it bites really good) to a hard stop.

1st fix: So I decided to change out the back rotor and pads to see if that helps. I used autozone rotor and pad (Don't flame: it was temporary because i know autozone you can return the parts and get a full refund and I was on a budget after buying the car and wanted to put something better later on)

Result: After the rear rotor and pad change I did get a better stop and the double pumping was not so bad, but it was still there. (and yes there were noisy as f#$K)

2nd fix: After reading about the the dual piston on the 05-06 I bought it. But didn't put it on yet.

Result: Lazy to put them on

3rd fix:about 6000 miles later I thought I needed front now because the the double pumping was getting worse and the pedal would go all the way to the floor. I didn't have time to the UPGRADE TO THE 05-06 yet so i got some Duralast at Autozone (because i can return and get my money back)

Result: I WAS SHOCKED DOUBLE PUMP WENT AWAY!
The bite was better and got better with the hard stops (i think the pads needed to be warmed up.)

4th fix: Finally I got time to do the swap. so i changed the calipers, pads, rotors, then bleed the system. (If you need help doing the swap ask)

Result: I decided to do some test like hard braking, double pumping, fading the pads, wetting the pads and stopping

1st config
Bendix rotor
Bendix ceramics
not so good

2nd config
Bendix Rotor
Bendix semimetalic
not so good

3rd config
Auto zone rotor
Duralast pads
not so good

4th config
Bendix rotor
axis pads
not so good

5th config
Bendix rotors
Hawks pads
not so good

6th config
Bendix rotors
Dealer 05-06 PADS
FREAKING INCREDIBLE ! GREAT STOPPING POWER!

Final Result: All the pads were great for hard braking, but the dealer pads were the best for all the conditions including initial bite which is important to everyday drivers like myself. I replaced the rotors every time after changing the pads and spent about about 50-200 miles on each!

The upgrade to the 05-06 is definitely worth it. I used the same pads and rotor (autozone duralast) to test on the 03-04 and the 05-06. the 05-06 did stop better, but in the end the dealer pads won. I also solved double pump problem.
