Hit and Run on FREEWAY **PICS**

Re: Hit and Run on FREEWAY **PICS**
Hey guys, quick update. I went around the neighborhood and visited about 6 body shops. I think I've decided which one I'm going with. It's going to be a long ordeal, I can already tell, they're estimating 6 weeks for repairs, and that's without any delays for parts.
I can easily see it taking 2 months. Man... that's going to suck.
Anyway, yeah the 110/101 sucks! It really does. I've really never had any problems myself though, I've seen a lot of accidents there, especially on rainy days. One time, I saw 7 accidents on one rainy day within a 30 mile stretch on the 110. Isn't that ridiculous/incredible?!
Anyway, so I have to go parts hunting for my body shop, since they dont' have sourcing for the aftermarket parts.

6 weeks seems rather excessive. Typically a body shop should be able to spend 4-5 hours on a car per day. Depending on the amount of labor on the estimate, you can get a pretty good idea of how much time they will need. Without seeng the damage personally or knowing if and what kind of hidden damage there might be, 6 weeks seems like a long time from what I see in the photos alone.

CKwik, it's great to have an insurance adjuster on the forums! :-)
So, believe it or not, the estimate he gave me, without seeing if the rear rear suspension or if there is any internal damage already came out to $9,600. DAmn, these body shops make a killing on the insurance companies. Anyway, there basic rule of thumb for repairs are by dollar amount, so for anything over $5,000 and under $10K is 30 working days, which is 6 weeks. And he said that's without any delays. If we're missing parts or paint or something doens't dry or whatever, it could easily take longer.
Man... I can't even imagine being without my G for 2 months.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad you and your GF are OK. If there's one thing that really get's me irate, it's a hit and run driver. While your visiting those body shops you may want to ask around about the Chevy. He probably needs repairs as well. Unfortunatelythe CHP will probably not invest much time investigating the accident.

sorry to hear about your accident.
i got into my own little fender bender a couple of weeks ago. Like you, my whole passenger side needs replacing.
the fact that you already have aftermarket parts kinda sucks. did you claim those items?
my estimate is at a hair over $12,000...that's just for labor, paint, and parts.
good luck with everything...
since about 3/4 of your car will either need paint or blend, might as well throw in another grand or so and get a new paint job
