window stuck down
a friend's 06 coupe the other day had his window get stuck down. We looked at it today and i'm about 75% sure its the window motor.
He told me for the past 2 months he noticed that window being slow to go up. Nothing wrong with going down. I saw the DIY window motor and did it. Friend went out and bought a switch, new one in no go.
I took the motor off the reg. I expected a LOT of crap and etc and nothing. It was clean and full of jelly/lube. I took the metal silver top off spun off the motor thing it was somewhat clean but i cleaned it up. Pop it back in nothing.
I didn't have wiring papers on hand but i saw a black and red wire. I jumped those to the battery and just wanted to see the motor show life and nothing. pass window works, door locks work. Just not drivers window...
is this the motor? dealership wanted 309$ for the motor. is the 350z motor the same?
In the mean time with the motor taken off i used a 3/8 ratchet to bring the window up in case of rain and then put in the motor.

no warranty on his or that is what he is telling me. but it should/has to be the motor right?
with a new switch and old switch everything works minus the D's window. So the switch is golden. If i can turn by hand without much force the window to make it manual go up and down the window reg. is not binding at all. It leaves wires and motor. Given that the motor was slowly going up, that showed signs of it dieing.
Anyone know if its the same part as a 350z, he has a prem coupe. I can get a motor at nissan for $220-250 vs 309 at infiniti. All parts stores around me want under $200 for it but no stocks.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING THAT'S BEEN MENTIONED
Sorry, needed to get your attention before you waste your money. Take a few things into consideration. I've had this car for 3 years now and I've had more window motor problems than I can count. I would HIGHLY recommend buying one on-line or from autozone (should be $200 or more from autozone but there's a $40 core charge you get back). Anything at all is better than going to the stealership.
Another option (for now) is to pull the window up manually and leave it. Unless you really need to put it down. I left mine like that for a while cause I didn't have the money. If it won't come up just hold the window button up with the door open and slam it shut...the window should pop right up because your regulator is still fine.
Lastly whatever you do, don't pay someone to do this for you. Look up a DIY on it and do it yourself. Shouldn't take over an hour. It's simple, especially if you do it several times like me
Good luck.
