blown motor

so i was heading to my study group, as i was pulling off the intersection I heard a loud deep snap from the engine bay car died out. I had enough momentum to ride into a hood to get off the main road... called up my pops and the first thing he said was " thats what you get for racing your car"
WTF... so now I am trying to look for a motor locally in San Diego, I found one
that is a 2007 w/ 37k on it...but i wonder if it will drop right into a 2004 body... and I wonder what I will be looking at as far as price for this motor... damn what a day what a day...

The engine is actually totaled; could it be just the timing chain?

There's a place I know that has several VQ35's laying around up in Fontana, I'll post the name when I find it.

Sorry to hear that. Car looks clean. Doesn't insurance cover this bs? I understand they would replace a motor in an accident... But shouldn't it cover the motor under this condition?

How much mileage did you have on that motor before it blew?

The 07 motor will drop right into the 04...

Yah, really sorry about what happen...It's really too bad, cuz that G looks great. About insurance, they do not cover maintenace, especially a blown engine. I'm sure you would get this bad boy back on the road. Good luck!!!

This is not the first time I've heard of a random blown motor when cruising. Another local SD member also had the same thing happen. I think he also had an 04.

As for the used 07 motor, if it's a REVUP, chances are, there will be some differences in the wiring harness.

How hard were you on the motor? Another ideas on what happened? Timing chain, bearing failure, rod failure, etc?
