You can push more power reliably out of an RB than a force-fed VQ, no questions asked. Those RB's can take a lot of abuse on stock internals than a VQ35DE motor can. Just to point out the obvious... your VQ blew without forced induction.... what do you think will happen if you multiply the power by 1.5 or more times stock output?

RB would be an expensive swap though due to all the fab work involved and you never really know what you're getting when you buy a motor from overseas... plus what you mentioned about the legality of trying to run that motor in your car over here in the US.

If you're looking for an upgrade, I'd probably investigate the option of swapping in a VQ37VHR motor, although those are probably not as easy to come by and will cost a lot more. This is probably going to entail a lot of changes to the car though to support that motor.... new wiring harness, ECU, new intake setup to support dual intakes and MAF sensors, etc. I think it will bolt up to the existing tranny though and should drop right into existing engine mount points. Don't quote me on that though(I haven't actually looked into it).

I saw your sig and thought you were FI... but you're not so this definitely shouldn't have happened.

Did you regularly check your oil since the change? I hope it didn't run low. It's about the only thing I can think of that could cause this...

Way more trouble that it's worth. There are all kinds of fitment issues due to the dual intakes and engine bay layout. Not only that but the '04 BCM/CAN and the 37HR ECU probably won't get along very well either

I would also recommend against doing a Revup swap... the '04 ECU has no way of controlling the exhaust valve timing so it's not going to run correctly.

If it only does it at 40-50 MPH, it's probably not your engine making the noise. That's probably something in the tranny or further down the drivetrain such as your differential. If it was the engine, it would make it at various speeds whenever the motor was either revved to a certain RPM(depending on what gear you are in), loaded/unloaded, or reached a certain temperature... but the motor should have no relation to vehicle speed, since all it cares about is the speed of the flywheel.... the transmission takes the power from there and converts it into vehicle speed.

Post a video of the noise if you want a significant response to your question about your cars noise, because nobody here is going to be able to tell you much of anything useful about it without more detail or a video clip.

UPDATE- motor was found to be tapped in with a past turbo set up... after a minor break down of the top end of the motor we found fragments of a blown up piston and its piston rings... radiator was completely trashed due to the mix of oil and coolant after the engine blew... conclusion bad piston rings causing complete engine break down... car will be up and running by tomm... thanks to scott bush and his master tech...3 day turn around

Im glad my engine popped @ 68,100 miles because the factory motor is for 70,000! I barely made it to that deadline and the dealer says that they will putting a BRAND NEW engine in there . But even if I passed 70k, I bought an extended 3yr/36k mile warranty!
