one for the body guys out there
f**ked the car up sunday night. my question is do i try to pull the quater panel back straight or cut the bad section out and weld in a new piece from a doner car.
got tails coming, looking for the bumper, but not sure if i need to cut the whole quater or just the tweaked section. the bad part is from gas door back looks ok from there forward.
I think he's referring to the rear quarter panel which is not just bolted on but must be cut and rewelded back on (I think?)

I had almost the exact same damage a year ago. Went thru insurance, cost $2200 for repairs. Instead of welding on a new 1/4 skin theyll more than likely put it on the rack and try to pull it back out. All the factory spotwelds and seams are still good, why jeopardize all that by putting on new sheetmetal? Pull it and get it as close as possible and then use filler to smooth. Mine had damage behind the bumper, but very minor

Its a unibody car dude... you cant unbolt a rear 1/4 panel, its part of the structure.

they say most accidents happen close to home, and this couldn't be more true. my driveway that i've backed up so many time's it's not even funny and the one time i get distracted i end up hitting the neighbor's fence post. the fence post is fine by the way. i plan on doing everything myself except for the paint unless i have to, i do have the tools to do it. there is a dent on top of the surrounding area of the gas door. i've done a fair share of sheetmetal work before. i have a 66 nova project that i've done all the metal work myself including 2 full NOS quater panels, floor pan, trunk pan, and a buch of other body mods. if anyone knows of a totaled g coupe where i can get the just the section i need that would be great. i cant do anymore damage than whats there and if worse comes to worse the whole quater can be replaced.
