engine makes wierd screeching noise

hey guys, 05 coupe 5at 67,000 miles.....

whenever i start my car, after about 30 seconds it starts to make a high pitch sceeching sound..and 30 seconds after i turn the car off it makes the same noise.....i have a short ram intake and a motordyne 1/2 spacer but its neither of those because the noise was coming before i put them on....im guessing it cant be the belts because the noise still happens after i turn the car off...it sound like its coming near the plenum area could it be a loose hose...idk what do you guys think.....and if its a hose or vaccum how to find it???

thanks

The noise you describe is generally the belts being worn or loose when you start the car but I can't think of a thing that would make that noise after it's shut off....even a vacume hose. Have you given us a puzzle for which there is no answer?
Gary

^^ Gary is right, it sounds like a belt, maybe the one that runs your alternator. If you have a vacuum hose loose or leaking, your rpm should be jumping up and down which means vaccum or boost leak.

Know man. I hate it when people compliment my car and then ask me if it's gonna blow up lol.... But what do u guys think it is? It is really starting to annoy me...someone told me to run a "smoke" threw it? To locate if it's the hose...others suggest going back to stock intake.....idk any ideas? Trying to get it worked out soon

The check valve between the engine and brake booster? EVAP system? Air conditioning freon pressure equalizing (if using AC). Not sure what parts could cause this in the AC or EVAP, but defiantly some places I would look. Finding small vacuum leaks can be done with a can of WD40 or similar, use the plastic nozzle and spray suspect area, the oil will be drawn into the leak temporarily sealing it, causing a change in RPM.

i would say that the ac pump is going. seals are not holding freon pressure, and it is just equaizing. just my $.02

Sounds electrical to me. Aftermarket alarm system? How do the engine grounds look?
