i tried to search this but too many things popped up and didnt get my info. on building my 05at coupe wondering what you fellas think about building the vq (n/a), or doing an engine swap? i talked to a good tune/dyno shop here and he said he could build it all motor to about 350whp but i didnt get a price. or order a titan 5.6(320hp) which is about 2400 on ebay and have them install, are there any other v8 engines that will "fit" in our car? or would you just get a 2jz which is the same price but only 280hp but is turbo. i know its gonna be pricy installation, what do you think?

Depends on what your agenda, budget, and definition of "trouble" is. IMO unless you have money up the *** and nothing better to do, stay away from engine swapping, especially if you're trying to fit a V8, it's much more than "just" an engine swap. It has been done, once (to my knowledge) but you need a LOT of resources to make that happen. The reason why you couldn't find info on that is because its borderline outrageous and quite unnecessary.

Built motors are definitely more in the realm of practical. Still expensive but will allow you to have a lot of room for power should you decide to push it in the future. However, our stock internals are able to hold a decent amount of power before needing a complete build so once again it depends on what you're trying to accomplish and your budget.

engine swap...
wow ok, yeah i heard rb engines are more pricy than 2jz. just figured 2400 for engine and no more than 4k for install. so guess i will just go f/i unless i can find someone to install engines cheaper. a 2jz shouldnt be too bad of an install at least not like a v8.

There were a couple members here on DRIVER that installed the Titan V8s a few years ago. Not sure of the out come or if they liked what they'd created. Making swaps like that make your G worthless for resale. I'd rather spend the $$ for a 4.2 stroker N/A motor, then you'd have something fun to drive without all the headaches of a swap....

i was gunna do ls2, and 2jz, but i decided to stick with my nissan routes

Buy a 6MT first, then start your modding.

350whp all motor...
MRD motors off 264 in norfolk, va. they have built alot of fast cars and know their isht, he was saying i should just go turbo. reason i got a 5AT is i was out at sea for 6 months and my car got totalled while i was gone so when i got back i test drove the 05 5AT and loved it(i didnt know anything about performance and never had a car that fast) not that its THAT fast, plus it only had 18,000 miles and i needed a car fast. i now wish i had waited and got an evo or corvette or at least a 6sp.

Yeah I def think f/i will be much better in the long run than an engine swap. Way too much custom work and potential problems...
