Went up to the rev limiter.

Today I drove the coupe and had fun with it, but I accidently bounced the RPM needle and hit the rev limiter. I basically floored the car on the second gear and I did not realize that the RPM needle had already passed the redline and hit the rev limiter.
Did I just do something bad to the engine?
I'm just scared if that will make any damage to the engine.

Nope, no damage to the engine, just don't do it all the time and you'll be fine. Nothing wrong with having a little fun with the G ...

Re: Went up to the rev limiter.

So nothing bad happened to it?
But i have to admit that it's a hell outta fun flooring the G and hearing the engine revs up and exhaust rumble.. that made me forgot to shift the gear and bounced the needle... hahaha..

Re: Went up to the rev limiter.

It would only do long term damage to your pistons if you do it all the time due to the fact that your engine cuts off fuel for a split second and you run insanely lean. But it does such little damage that you would have to do it A LOT to really damage the pistons. Dont even worry about it.

Re: Went up to the rev limiter.

I do that about DAILY! I am really close to getting the sound in my head when I need to shift, but sometimes when I launch really good, it catches me out!

No worries, that is why they have a rev limiter, no harm done!

i do it every chance I get. I still do it with the TS ECU and 7100 rom redline.

i don't care if it's bad, it's good for my mental health
