So I have this so called friend who sits right next to me at work who is starting to get right on my nerves, it seems that he is having some kind of competition in keeping up with me as it started back last year when I had a 98 Navigator and he went out and bought a 2001 Navi, well I had mine from when it was new so I sold it and got a 2004 Aviator and put a stop to that but no!! I then purchased a 04 G35 coupe and he happend to buy a 02 BMW 325 convertible, now everytime we talk about cars he thinks he has the God given car of all, he keeps on repeating that BMW phrase "The ultimate driving machine" and it is starting to get annoying.
I don't want to hurt him to much in the feelings dept. as he is making some hefty payments on both vehicles (living beyond his means) but hwo would I shut him up or try and get the message across that it's not all that its cracked up to be, I mean 184hp and no extras in his car at all, just the base model.....I am starting to think I should just go and buy an M3 Convertible just to shut him up, thats how bad its getting.
Does Infiniti have its own phrase ?? I guess not.

Well I would tell him to shut the fu#k up but he is 6' 5" and built like a brick....not the kind of guy you would want to start a war with. He even wore a white T-shirt into work the day he bought it in with the BMW logo on it which he got from one of the sale reps.....now that he drives the car he thinks he has moved up like 2 classes above everyone....I def. think he thinks he's better than everyone, all because he drives a bimmer.
I did take him for a spin in mine and he nicely pointed out that both our models share the same tire size ...lol talk about grasping at straws. Even though I do not make it a habit to race on streets I may have to put him in his place and see if he wants to go head to head, I know what the answer will be, something like "This car was not meant for speed but for looks" HAHA .

Most bimmer drivers I met have been nice people, but once awhile you run into the stereo-typical bimmer buffs. These people seem to brag about the performance of the a nameplate more than the actual car. A base 325ci would be a perfect example as you said it.

When I meet these people I usually just greet them with a smile on my face. A colleague preached to me on and on about how his brand new automatic 325 is a much better car than my G35C. I just smiled and said "I agree, you definitely NEED a bimmer." The BMW is just a better car for many people.

Then another time I tried to convince a friend that a nicely equipped G35 sedan + $6000 is a much better choice than a base 325i with xenon. Then he turned around and asked me plainly "Which car will get more chicks" At that point I gave him the nod to go with the Bimmer. All depends on what you need the car for.

How old are you guys...This war seems kinda childish. By the Way you G would destroy a 325....Say it and them go out and prove it. I doubt if he'll even want to show you what his 325 could do. It's not a 330. Ask him to put up or shut up.

 

I don't know about you but the G pulls way more chicks than a BMW 325. Now an M3 is a different story. I only see a BMW 3 series about 1 every 5 cars around here. Literally.

Just for the record the G would destroy the 330 convertable too. Love beemers.....Hate basic 3 series beemers they're a dime a dozen and dont even perform.....Just ask your coworker how he finds his in a packed parking lot. :P

 

Two weeks ago we drove a 330ci and right after took our first test drive in a G35C. G35 definitely outperformed the BMW. And there is no comparison in looks, inside and out. Frankly I think the BMW is blah on the inside - bunch of black retangular buttons.

Needless to say, we are in the market for a G35c!!

The thing is, with the type of person he sounds like, if you outraced him with the G, he would probably turn around and go buy that M3 himself.

Have you parked your G next to his 325? Even a monkey would have to admit that the G looks way sexier.
Anyway, your "friend" sounds like a dilweed. Just enjoy your G and don't pay any attention to his delusional BMW talk.
