Anyone else have parking lot paranoia?
I got rear ended at a stop light by a late 80s Chevy Blazer. He barely broke through the plastic on my bumper.
I was clipped at a 7/11 parking lot by a 2006 toyota camry going barely 4-5 mph. Bumper was dented, clearcoat cracked. Shop had to repaint the entire bumper and use a heat gun to form the bumper back into shape. instead of using bondo.
Damage to the Camry rear bumper. NOTHING!
Go check out the G35 rear bumper, its very thin, you can push on it and feel the metal beam behind it.
Then go to a camry bumper, you can't even push on it. It's a lot thicker than the G bumper.

This thread made my day... its like reading a book of all my thoughts and opinions in one place. As for what I do.. generally I look for the nicest cars and try to park near them when I'm going to be awhile. If/when the option is available I park on an end stall or next to a handicapped stall when I know I'll be just a few minutes, as from my experience handicap stalls are rarely used at gas stations and some office buildings around here.
i use "bumper doc", a pdr to remove those door dings on my g.. i have an '06 4runner limited which i use most of the time to run some errands, go to the movies, to work and what not.. and even then i still get the parking lot paranoia.. but it is higher than the g, plus it has those plastric trim that covers half of the doors...
Im usually that ******* who takes up two parking spots... of course in the very very back... but if im goin to walmart or the mall... i drive my other cars... i will go home passing walmart and grab my other car to drive back... maybe a little to paranoid, i dont know...
The bank I work at is in a strip mall in an immigrant neighborhood where everyone drives old beat up *** cars most of the time and can't drive for ****. But our work area is in direct line of view of the parking lot, so I'm ALWAYS staring at my car with my remote pager on hand in case I need to issue a warning if some big *** truck or van pulls by next to my G
Ahhhhh, finally I don't feel so bad when everyone bugs me. I love fellow g owners with the same meticulous care for their cars as I have. I feel right at home. Every morning at university, the same rouuutine
(old picture when she was still stock, glad to say caught the mod bug hard since then)

Actually the picture is quite deceiving my school has the same problem. The end spots seem to be at least 10% larger, hence, I take full advantage. I park so close to the wall that I have to exit with my wheel significantly to the right or my mirror will catch that edge that comes out in the picture if you look close enough. If your school doesnt have the larger end spots, boy oh boy do I feel bad for you. I tried parking in another spot in an empty area and immediately noticed the same thing you did, THE SCHOOL IS MAKING THE SMALLEST SPOTS THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH. I don't know how you make due...
