Finally found a use for the cassette player
If you have a thin cell phone, the cassette slot is a perfect place to hold your phone or Ipod!

Yesterday I had a friend of mine say "Damn this thing has a cassette player? My 2001 Explorer doesn't even have one!" I told him it must of been the base model then

One time a buddy and I were bored when we had to evacuate our building due to a power failure, so we hopped into my car and plugged his IPHONE into the tape-deck converter, and went to one of those police scanner websites on his IPHONE and listened for the local scanner channel, and then drove around checking out police activity for like an hour or so.
Sure... it might look a little ridiculous in this day and age, but it's a lot of bang-for-the-buck mod and works great on the stock system... plus the sound quality is just as good as a CD from that tape deck(surprisingly) if you have high bitrate MP3's and do a little research to make sure you buy a converter that isn't a POS.
Me too.... the 6-Disk changer pretty much doesn't work at all anymore in my car and it's not worth replacing it just to hear CD's because I don't buy or burn those anymore anyways, and the '04 Coupes don't come with an IPOD connection from the factory. I just use an MP3 player and connect it to the stock system through one of those tape deck to audio jack converter things. $8 for the converter, and like $65 for an 8 Gb Sansa Fuze MP3 player buys you a lot of song playing ability. Plus, if I'm ever waiting for someone, I can just put a video onto the MP3 player and watch that with the audio being played over the car radio.
