Clutch Question

SOOO my clutch just went out, and I'm trying to decide a couple of things. First is should I go with a factory replacement or an aftermarket clutch, and if aftermarket what clutch should I go with. And secondly, should I take it to the dealership or should I just go to a shop?! thanks guys. oh and its an 03 coupe 6mt

i just recently changed mine as well, i went aftermarket to Z1 Motorsports. i got the mild performance, i personally love it! it's a bit more springy than the stock clutch which i like! and as for installation, i just did it myself....if you don't plan on doing it yourself i would have a shop do it. im sure it costs less than if you take it to the dealership.

well since your a college student im assuming its your daily driver. so a performance clutch wouldn't do you much good. they have a shorter engagement so it's more of a pain to drive in the city. i recommend going something similar to stock.

wellll its not so much of a daily driver really.. I go to the university of utah so the only time i really drive it is when we go for drives through the canyons, so a more fun clutch really wouldnt be a bad thing. I dont commute im on campus so its not like I'm driving through traffic every day. Thanks a ton for this help though

ACT clutch with heavy duty pressure plate and organic street disc w/ stillen lightened fly wheel. great combo, no chatter. seems to be a choice a lot of ppl go with.

Was just going to post the exact thing as above. Don't bother with exedy, ACT all the way.

so would I have to get a new fly wheel with the ACT clutch or would it work well with the stock?

it still works with stock flywheel. but people like putting lighter flywheels because it adds a bit more horsepower and the engine revs faster because of the less rotational mass.

$375 sounds pretty reasonable. but im sure you can find a place that'll do it a bit cheaper. but not by much.

I just replaced my clutch. Exedy oem replacement. Flywheel didnt look too great when I pulled it off. Just cleaned it up a bit with a cookie. $240 later, car feels great! I forgot how fun it was to "chirp" going into 2nd.
