Smile Air Intake Kit !

I just inhereted my fathers G35 Copue and I am looking into some upgrades as he kept it completely stock. The first upgrade is going to be a cold air intake, however which is best; the K-N Typhoon or the Stillen Z-Tube kit?

Photos of both installed units would be nice.

Thanks,

Welcome! One of my custom grounding kits is a great starter mod too.

Depends where u live and weather conditions. After u know that it depends on wether u want a cold air intake or a short ram intake. Most prefer short ram

I live in Indianapolis and the car will NOT be driven in the winter! I do not want a super street kid looking unit. I do want the the best flow. It has to look like it belongs under the hood.

Thanks,

Get a ztube and popcharger. Best bang for the buck and if u have an automatic then I suggest the grounding kit. I've never had any experience with it but have heard good things

So do not get the whole kit from Stillen? What is a popcharger and grounding kit? I am new to the Nissan/Infiniti world so where do I get this stuff?

I would just go with a Z tube...it's the cheapest route and it's pretty useful. Honestly it just doesn't make much sense to spend a lot of money on an intake for this car. It isn't going to do very much.

A popcharger just refers to the filter on the JWT intake system, it's enclosed in a box to prevent sucking in hot engine air. Everyone just calls the whole intake a "popcharger". I'd actually recommend the full Stillen kit over the popcharger, if you read around, you'll see that the popcharger actually does suffer from heat soak a lot more than the Stillen, due to it's metal encloser. Also, look into a z-tube + revup airbox + drop in filter.

A grounding kit consists of wires to be connected to specific points in your engine bay. It GREATLY reduces the lag between shifts in the 5AT, especially noticable in manumatic mode. I have Sean's (xSxExCx) kit and would highly recommend it.

thats what I have and could not be more happy. My car suffered from heatsoak for sure but not anymore it feels so alive and pulls like never did before..

Congrats and welcome.

Now, some advice. Don't waste your money on an intake - the gains are negligible and won't be felt. Save the money for a plenum spacer where you can actually pick up 10-15 HP and 10+ lb-ft of torque in a usable part of the rev range. Do some searching - you will see that this has been discussed hundreds of times.

haha damn rastaman, after reading your other post and this post about how happy you are with the revup airbox, i'm tempted to pick one up... right now it's a toss up between that or a stillen intake. I bought my car with what appears to be an injen intake already installed on it but it has no heatshielding and suffers from nasty heatsoak in florida

hahhah yes I am happy..I bought my car with a cone filter stuck to my Gtube. I drove it like that for 8 months then put my revup box and ztube and i was all grins. I love driving my car more now than ever

go for the stillen if you can afford it..I cant so went the other more cost effective way..

I ordered the Stillen kit and grousing kit. I also assume the plenum spacer does not affect hood clearance.
