bad test drive experience today

I picked up a used 2003 G35 coupe today for a test drive and I notice the SLIP light and the VSC light were on. But I still proceed to test drive it. When I pulled out on the busy street RICHMOND in Houston at 5:30 pm today the car has no power. I try to give it gas but no response at all. The tach stay at idle and the car going at 5 mph. I had to turn back to the car dealer (small shop) and complain. When the saleman come out, he started the car and it seems to run fine. Dang. That wasnt a good impression. Anyways..after researching on this forum it seems like there is a TSB out for the repair. Car has a lot of rattles..much worse than my 97 prelude no flames here...I love both cars..Anyone has carfax to help me look at this car?? VIN JNKCV54E63M204685

Get a new 2005 G35 Coupe, the HP has increased and that'll give you power. As some ppl say, never buy a car that is a first year because of the problem issues. Like you bought '97 Honda Prelude as the model has been rebuilt and re-design and new type sportronic (lot of recalls). I used own '98 Prelude and it does have a lot of problems. I assumed that every sport car in market do have porblems and there is no perfect car. I test drove the 2003 G35 and the sound was louder and slower than the 2004 model. What I hate the most are manual transmission, clutch, and lastly BREMBO brakes won't last. So, that's big changes and i assumed 2005 model will get better with no brembo brakes, smoother shifting and I guess the clutch will be improved because of the knowledge from 2003 and 2004 model.

Sorry to hear about your experience but I own a 2004 and I have been extremely happy with the quality of my car so far. The 2003's were the first production run so they had more problems like wolfsterx said, and the previous owner might have sold it early due to problems.

Just don't tell me that you test drove a Diamond Graphite on black auto coupe! Regardless, it's an early VIN. Late '03s had serial numbers that started with 22xxxx.

perhaps the 2003 coupe is "hit or miss" because i have an '03 and have ZERO problems....go figure. the only tsb's i had done were the window grease mark and brake light issue which was done for me during one of my scheduled maintenance. other than that, i've had no other problems (i.e. rattles, trannies, seat comfort, etc). and oddly, i purchased the coupe in december 2002 which were literally the initial production.

Ditto, Z2G.....I'm getting paranoid reading these forums.
My early 03 has 13.5K miles and absoutly NO (0) problems, rattles, squeeks....so far.
If it's going to break...I wish it would hurry up ...under warranty.
LOL

Heh, I'm nowhere near TX.. and I think I've had my fair share of autos already. I was just taking a random shot since that's the most common color combo, even my sales rep drives a coupe exactly like that.
