Just bought a G35!
Hey,
I just bought a 2004 G35 today. 50k miles, Silver, black leather, coupe.
I love it so far, it drives and handles incredibly, and looks just as good as it drives.
I have a few questions:
1. It has the Bose sound system. After listening to a CD for a while, the left side sound cuts out completely, and sound only comes out of the right hand side. What's with this?
2. I want to get rid of the reflector headlamps and get projectors. Will the projector headlamps from the newer models fit this model?
3. For anyone who has installed an aftermarket head unit, has anyone put in a double-din Pioneer touchscreen unit with Navi? Is it visible while driving?
Thanks!

Congrats on the buy
1. Maybe its the disc? Not sure
2. Yes the projectors will fit your 04
3. As long as the touchscreen fits the double din kit your fine, of course it'll be visible while driving...

1. the factory head unit is known to have that problem, i used to just bang on the side of the head unit till it worked normal again then i just got a pioneer avic d3
2. yes the 06 + headlights will fit but if its yourr first time messing with a g you will have a fun time installing the lights. i recommend you searching a diy on how to remove the front bumper.
3. having a double din head unit with navi isnt very visible while driving in my opinon. just sit in your car and imagine looking down but it isnt bad and what other choices do we have. have fun and post up some pics

The issue with the head unit pretty much affects everyone with an '03 or '04 Coupe.
The problem is caused by the internal ribbon cable that connects the CD-player unit to the rest of the head unit. The pins start to get messed up and don't create a solid connection and it causes the sound to start to fade and cut out on one of the sides of the car. Eventually, it will stop working all together.
My car(as well as many others here) has the same problem. As a temporary solution, you could take apart the head unit and plug the cable half-way into the connector.... that will create a more solid connection, but it's not likely to be a permanent solution.
Personally, I stopped using the CD-player all together once this happened, and just bought one of those Tape-Deck converter units, and I plug it into my tape deck and play music from an MP3 Player all the time. It's 100x better than shuffling through CD's, and, as far as I know, the tape deck never has this problem with the ribbon cable failing and causing sound problems.

The right front speaker on my 07 G35X went out. It was still barely under warranty. Dealer found that the speaker cable had come unplugged. He said it unplugged from the speaker itself. I'm not sure that makes any sense but it works now. Might be worth checking before digging into the head unit.

I think that's about to happen anyways. My vehicle came with a warranty, and I think my door lock actuators are about to go. The drivers side is real weak, and barely works at times. When I have them fix that I'll have them check the speaker wire. I'm going to put a Double Din Pioneer unit in there anyways.
I have one pic. It's not the best pic, but I want to detail it real well before I take any good pics of it.
