i dunno.. but i think the 05 is 70 lbs heavier than the 04. correct me if i'm wrong.

I would go with an 04 if I were you? The Brembos are the biggest advantage with the 04! I found that the only reason they got the extra HP on the 05 is because they added variable valve timing on the exhaust valves and the motor is otherwise the same. I do like that they added lighted steering wheel buttons on the 05, but that is probably and easy fix? We all can gain that HP the 05 has fairly easily and inexpensively. It will be really interesting to see how the re-sale stays on 03 and 04 6MT, I feel that the Brembo brakes will help keep resale high, just my guess though!

I think the Brembos make the car more marketable... and more noticable... I've had people just staring at the Brembos when I'm stopped at a light.

We'll probably see some people swap to a Brembo brake package or something when the 05's come out ...?!

I think the G is a great looking car regardless of the year (03 vs. 04 vs. 05). The style and shape is really unique like the Supra was when it came out back then... and that is why the Supra is still one of my favorite cars. The TT also helps... [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]

 

Actually, I read that the 05 has more ponies, but less torque...this would mean that it would still be a drivers race...

Yeah the 05 doesn't have more HP until toward the 6K RPM range. Below that range according to the peak torque numbers the 03/04 has MORE HP

Smooth shifter confirmed. The clutch pedal should be lighter too if it's like the 350Z's. I testdrove an 05 350Z the other day. Is it a completely new gearbox or just improvements?

Maybe they are looking at your black rims w/ silver lip perhaps???? I think most people on the road have no idea what Brembos are, only car freaks like us would know, but other then that, most likely, majority of peeps on the road will notice the color of them before even trying to pronounce BREMBO..hehe.

with more HP and further up the rev band, this indicates the new VQ will be putting down more torque at those RPM than the current G. And pulling in more RPM's allows you to stay in a lower gear longer to take advantage of the greater torque multiplication of the lower gearing. The additional 18 HP should outweigh the additional 70 lbs or so that will be added. And with variable intake and exhaust valve timing, the torque curve will probably be broader and flatter. Well wait to see the actual results, but my speculation is what I stated above.

 

many people may not know what brembos are, but the huge painted calipers do get noticed. Just the other day my mom asked me "what are those gold/orange things in your wheels??"

Then I pointed out how most cars have disc brakes, calipers, etc, and she said "wow yours looks so much better.

yep if the torque band is flatter, then that in itself may result in improved acceleration

I'm sure the 05 will be faster. Car makers cannot modify a car and make it slower, that would be negative improvement!
