freaking Dealership
freaking Dealership
I bought the car from an infiniti dealership as a preowned certified used car.
Does that mean they look the car in and looked at EVERYTHING that could be wrong with it?
B/c now the dealership is saying my front Compression Rods are bent b/c the "someone tried to replace the bushings and bent them". I didnt even know what a compression rod was until the told me I had to replace it, but they are blaming me for trying to replace them.
Alos the rear Shocks need to be replaced and they say they knew that before they sold me the car, But i was never informed they need to be changed.

certified mainly means they extended the warranty. and just checked fluids and other small stuff.
Shocks are wear and tear item, doubt they would even replace those. Compression rods, you can fight that one.

Wrong Pre-Owned Certified means they are suppose to check things and fix them if they are broken, but only what shows up on the list.
Thats why it supposedly costs 1500 bucks extra to do, since they are suppose to do stuff.

OP I suggest you get that list and go one by one, make sure they checked everything. If your Brake Pads are below 50% they have to change them.
The car needs to pass every item on that list to become a Certified and Pre-Owned car.
The dealer I bought my car from certified it with out doing jack ****. I had to write a letter to Infiniti of North America, Yes a Letter no stupid emails or calling. Write them a letter in the mail. With in a week the dealer called us back and said they would do anything we wanted.
Easy thing to check is the Belts are they missing ribs or cracked? Mine were and the car passed certification!
OP look at the suspension area- says to check "Suspension system/control arms/Ball joints/Bushings(condition)" if they did check this stuff they would of saw that the compression rods are bent, since they would have to of checked it as being in bad condition and needing replacement.
OP I also recommend getting the full maintenance history of the car from the dealer. It should say its initial certification check which failed then it should say what parts they changed and then recertification pass. something like that
And same thing goes for the shocks they should of checked it using the "bounce test" if it failed, they needed to fix it...
The whole point of the certified pre owned **** is so that you get a car thats "like new" and they fix everything for you.
oh and is there anything in writing that its a Certified pre owned car? Like a print out of it being sold saying it was? Lots of times they will say the car is but when its time to buy its not.
Again in order for the car to pass
for Certified 86-145 need to be checked as in good condition
and preowned - 1- 85
If they are bad they need to "Adjust or repair!"

Mine was supposedly pre-certified as well. I Noticed the day I drove it off the lot that two fuses for some interior accessoryies were blown and the CD changer didn't work....WTF!!!

^ Yep, its damn ridiculous they charge 1500 bucks or so for this process which most of the time they dont do. And hope you dont find out. Seems all infiniti dealers do this its very bad...

^ They do not give you the check list, its dealer records.
If you ask for them they most likely will not give it to you. Thats my experience.
But its clear they did not follow the checklist, or looked at the items.

To expect them to check EVERYTHING is reaching IMO.
My OPINION of certified cars is that they arena more or no less than anything else on the lot. The dealer may or may not inspect them more thoroughly, and may or may not repair what they find. It will vary dealer to dealer just like everything else. Some will take it seriously and they their best, others will charge you the fee for the car to be "certified," fix nothing, and gamble that you'll have issues that they'll have to address.
I think it's a crapshoot. I know what it's supposed to indicate, but I'm too cynical and too old to believe that they always do what they're supposed to do.

Is anyone really surprised that a dealership would throw a Certified sticker on a vehicle without even looking at it and then jack up the price accordingly? Follow up with Nissan and get the dealership to fix everything that should have been fixed before it was put up for sale with their Certified sticker on it! If I wanted a used vehicle I'd rather buy it from a private party with maintenance records than any stealership....

Never ever trust ANY kind of "certified/checklist" bull****. I learned that the hard way, and the $3,000 of receipts I have can attest to that. But at least I have the comfort of knowing those parts are brand new and won't fail.
There is no stamp, the dealer either advertises or says its Certified. I need to check my sale papers and see if it says it anyplace. Ill let you know.
When you bought it you should have or have gotten in your paperwork a white paper that say's on top Infiniti Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Warranty. It will also have a registration number on it in red. You can call Infiniti customer support and give them your Vin. That's what I did to follow up and make sure I have the warranty on file with my car and not just a piece of paper saying I have it.
