Averaging 21.6 MPG good?

It's true. It's all abpit how hard you push your car. When I do long trips I average 24-26 miles per gallon depending on how fast you are going. Your car is most efficient at 65-70mph. I used to get a little over 20 when I did mostly highway driving. I live in Boston and I don't do any highway driving now. I push my car more than the average guy and now I get 15-17 mpg.

Today I got about 310 on the tank, which came out to be about 17.8 mpg, which is the worse that I've gotten (had the car about 3 months). But, it was all city; 4 miles to work, 4 miles home, twice a day, never get to 5th gear...the worst kind of driving.
But here is another thing. You know that stupid little 'Rev' light on the dash? Well, I've been bumping it up. First it was at 3000, then 3500, then 4500. Every time I bump it up my mileage gets worse. Coincidence? I've been telling myself that the stupid little blinky light makes no difference in how I actually drive. But it does. Maybe subconsciously, but it does. I'm either going to turn it off (8000 rpm) or better yet, set it back down to 3500 or 3000.
I'll let you know if it helps my mileage.
