+1 this is what I usually try to do and it works. Also I don't frequent those gas stations that it seems to happen at.

is because it catched air inside the tank...you have to pull the nozzle out and then put it back in and gentle press for gas.....dont pull full pressure on the nozzle.

This happens to me too, only at certain gas stations with certain nozzles. I found that if I turn the nozzle upside down, I am able to fill a full tank.

Hi!! I'm having this exact issue. I was unaware when I bought it from a 3rd party. They never mentioned it :/. My question is, can anyone do this replacement of the sensor or do I HAVE to take it to the dealer? No extended warranty on my car either so it will be out of pocket for me.

Anyone can do it. But the dealership would have more experience on this. You can print out a TSB and take it to a shop and have them work in it.

But it looks like a bltch to do. Gas tank needs to be near empty, seats have to be removed, and someone has to stick their hand into the tank and reach in to grab the valve.

I had mine done when I took it in for the air bag recall in Aug. 2010. Good thing because my warranty was about to be out in October.

1. Check the recall, your car might need it.

2. It could be the pump at the gas, sometimes there are faulty nozzles that won't fill your car to a full tank, it fills probably half way, it sometimes happens to me

The recall is only for the fuel line. This should be done as it can cause a fire.

The "filling" issue has nothing to do with the fuel line, but a "Fill Limit Vent Valve". This is not a recall. But a TSB was released for this.

TSB #: ITB08-041A.

Download PDF here: http://www.infinitig37.com/TSB/1SC29.pdf

This affects 03-08 Infinti vehicles (M, G35, G37).

After this was performed on my car, I no longer had any problems. So it's not the gas pump that was the problem, but the car itself. I mean, I never had any problem with my previous cars filling up the tank.

Yep its a shutter valve issue. Dealership should fix this with no issues if you're under warranty. Not sure about it if you're not.

Funny story tho I took mine in for this and the guy says I can fix it but not until tomorrow. I say why? He says its hard to get back there without taking the fuel tank out and I got a guy scheduled for tomorrow who has really small hands and he can get in there easier to fix it.

I kid u not.

I thought I had this problem fixed months ago when I took it to the dealer while the car was under warranty. Now that the problem has resurfaced, I'm hoping the dealer will stand behind his original work and fix it without charge. I have a feeling I'm going to have a fight on my hands, though.

I remember seeing a document where it showed pictures of shoving basically your whole arm down the gas tank to fix the problem

^ He basically described it as getting on the outside of the tank but that your arm rubbed up against it as you replaced and tightened up the valve. So you either needed to be really small or tall but anorexic.
