05 Coupe 5AT vs 6MT Power Difference?!
Hello,
I'm just curious why there is a power difference between the two 2005 models;
5AT @ 280
6MT @ 298
I am very confused by this since I thought that they were the exact same motor, but with just different tranny's... I could understand a power difference at the wheels but why the difference at the flywheel.... Anyone?

They're just different ECU tunes. but in 2005, the 6MT's came with the Rev Up that has a 7000 rpm redline that has VVT (Variable Valve Timing) on both intake and exhaust valves opposed to the non rev up's 6,500 rpm redline that only has VVT on the exhaust valves.

Ahh, that makes more sense... I didn't really realize torque was so important.. I kinda feel dumb. I thought more HP was more important... Hmm. What would make one want one more then the other?

well i don't think it's just the extra 18 hp but also the extra 500 rpm redline which helps stay in it's powerband for a longer period of time before shifting.
