New Guy Here
Hi, I just recently purchased a 2006 6MT with the premium package. I love the car and am very pleased with everything. I don't have many plans for it except I do want to get true dual exhaust, and possibly tinted windows. I do have a guy to do the exhaust but I'm not sure which way to go (ie. standard exhaust size but duals, bigger exhaust size with duals, resonator delete,etc.). I want to increase the performance and get a little bit of sound but I have to keep the cats so test pipes are not an option, and I want to keep it close to stock. Thanks for all of the input.

Welcome to DRIVER....BILLHILL!
Exhaust manufactures spend hundreds of hours developing systems that don't exceed the allowed db levels and offer the highest gain in HP. It's impossible for your local muffler shop to have anything remotely close! Most of the HP gains can be achieved by replacing your OE cats with Berk's HFCs. (high flow cats) They are 48 state legal and offer 10 RWHP gains, that's a good starting place. I'll be installing Berk's HFCs in January, living in CA. we walk a fine line with emissions. Check out our MARKETPLACE under vendor exhaust for all your needs. HKS and MotorDyne seem to be the most popular exhaust systems since they offer HP gains and great sound along with quality polished stainless and a life time warranty. Bill, any questions you have can be found by doing a SEARCH! There's not a subject that hasn't been discussed a gazillion times. Good Luck....

Thanks for the replies. I would love to get the HKS but spending 1400$ for an exhaust system is very impractical for me seeing as how I will not have a lot of mods. I do like the sound of the high flow cats though. If I were to go with the custom exhaust, what would be the route to go? Would it be best to use the stock piping size but just get high flow cats and true duals? Or should I go with a higher size pipe? Please take into consideration that I do want it to sound fairly quiet.
Thanks to all in advance.

I suggest you go with the HFCs since most of the restriction is within the OE cats. It will change the way your OE exhaust sounds and chances are you'll like it. The correct size pipe used on our VQ engines is 2 1/2" if you go larger you'll lose low RPM torq. When our members sell their G35s they quite often sell their exhaust systems so keep watching our MARKETPLACE under Private Classifieds for an HKS exhaust....

Welcome to the forum. ^^ You say that now but once the bud gets you there is no stopping. As far as an exhaust, I think any true dual would give you that exhaust note that you are looking for... Have fun with the G!!!

Thanks for all of the replies so soon. Yes I have a feeling thats what may happen. My son has a 2000 Integra GSR and he's been bit by the bug (he's not a ricer trust me,every mod has to pass the "dad inspection"). I want to get the exhaust done at the same place he did seeing as how they did a excellent job and it's the only normally aspirated Integra I've ever heard that doesn't sound/look like a bumblebee. So do you guys think that going with a 2.5'' pipe from each cat back (upgrade to high flow) to the stock muffler would be a good idea? That way it would still be fairly quiet but still get some performance increase? All feedback is welcome.

sicc whip dude! I got the same model! I been considering the Nismo exhaust but its so freakin expensive it deters me from actually goin for it. The HFC's isn't a bad idea though, cheaper and still get a nice mild sound from the exhaust.
looks good and clean. dont do it unless the shop does MANDREL bending! you can get the hks rep for around $300. i had one til i did a custom 3" mandrel single exhaust
. but you can pick up used exhausts for good prices around here. lately seein the hks sell for half the new price!
