My 140 MPH Commute...

My 140 MPH Commute...
Just wanted to share! Had to take my wife to Ramstein today and enjoyed 45 miles of unadulterated FUN! There is just nothing like downshifting to 5th to overtake the "slow" Germans that have drifted into "my" left lane at 100 MPH. I was able to run for seven miles hovering between 140 and 150 MPH. Who needs Prozac?

Re: My 140 MPH Commute...
Damm,
I am scared to hell when I hit 140 here.....the only place I can really do it is on weekdays going out to Vegas, and I still have the worry that somebody will cut out in front of me or something. I can't keep it at 140 for longer than 30 sec or so anyway because of too much traffic.

Re: My 140 MPH Commute...
Pennsylvania Extension of the NJ Turnpike is by far the "area autobahn". Every trip up there I make I hold 100+ for 75 miles. Now, I used to think this was fun.... but now Im just jealous =( I want my driveway to back out to the autobahn.

If i remember my math - if I'm wrong someone please correct me - he only held it about 30sec. as well. D = RT would conclude that at 140MPH one could travel that 7 miles in about 33 seconds.
You guys here in the states need to take that to the track. Your asking for two things - a trip to jail and a totaled car(if you walk away) ya, I know, you can drive with the best of them. What happens if you lose a tire or if a rabbit runs onto the road. Only a little advise from a guy who totaled a 66 vette at 90MPH - I walked away - you might not.

Your a bit off...it would take 3.5 minutes to cover 7 miles at 120MPH...so I can guess it would probably take just under three minutes to cover 7 miles at 140MPH....
that's just my quick math...7 miles @ 60MPH takes 7 minutes...

Re: My 140 MPH Commute...
Thanks for the replies gang! I was on the A63 that now runs all the way from Mainz to K-Town. It used to end at Sembach, but they just finished the connector last week. In the summer time, early in the morning, it is one of the most righteous roads I have ever been on! High speed is great, but caution is still the rule of the day. Not picking on my German hosts, they are awesome. Its the truck drivers and the blue-hairs in their Bimmers that cut out of the right lane and drone along instead of PASSING that I get frustrated with. By the way, I don't think about how much gas is costing me here. I just pay the man! It usually runs about $30-$33 for a tank of 93 Octane. I had an old man in an Audi A8 all over my *** on the backroads to my house today. The old dude can drive! As a side note; the modified Audi RS6 and RS4's here are scary fast!!

Omaha man, you are def. right that naything could happen at any given time!! Its just those situations where you never do it, you have the opportunity and its like Dr.Jekyl takes over, adrenaline is pumping and flowing like crazy and you dont even think twice, its horrible but it happens to every single one of us weither going up to 90 for some people or extreme speeds liek 140, but i totally agree with you but its just unfortunate sometimes you cant control the urge, and cant control consequences that may happen...
