hey, so i was wondering..

Okay, i tried searching, but couldn't come up with any good results. So, i have a bit of a predicament. i got a nismo replica bumper that i'm about to get painted and installed, and while i was at it i wanted to get a few scratches repaired. I have a scrape on my front left fender, a deep scratch on my trunk, chipped paint on the hood from rocks, and a stain on my roof from bird poop (which i've tried buffing out to no avail), and a few dime sized dings in various locations of the car (quarter panel, door, etc..)

So this is my question, if i get work done on all of this and get the whole car repainted the OEM color (which is diamond graphite), will the resale value of the car go down? I know that if you paint the car a custom color, the trade-in value will go down, but what if I were to get it repainted the OEM color?

thanks for your help

If an adjuster sees that the car has been repainted, they will assume that some kind of damage has occured...

then value will go down

If it is done right and I mean really well it should cost a significant chunk of change I would think it should not effect the value of your car. If anything it would probably increase the private party value...

As long as its not an insurance claim they wont have it on record. Its just a repaint there wont be any harm later on.

yeah, and i'm asking because i don't want to get some parts repainted, and leave some stock. because there is never a 100% match to the oem color, and if i did it like that the parts would not match perfectly and it wouldn't look good. This way, if i repainted the whole thing, it would be one solid color, and it would be very close to the OEM color. the only way anyone would even be able to tell if it was repainted would be if they compared it side-by-side to a stock DG g35. Or so i think..

depending on your color and the quality of work that the shop does, you wont even tell the difference

My front bumper, fender, side skirt, and rear quarter were painted in this photo...even up close you can't even tell...

yeah, that paintjob looks great, the back bumper and trunk seems to look a bit different, but that's probably because it's in the shadow. but you said you got your bumper, skirts, fender, and quarter panel painted, and it blends perfectly with the door, looks like the exact same color.

I was just qouted to fix a dented door and quarter and from what my guy was telling me is for the blend to match the whole side of the car would have to be blended.

i have a friend who's dad does body work, i got quoted 475 to paint the front bumper, repaint the fender, and repaint the trunk lid. i think that's a pretty good price, so i might just get him to paint my back bumper and fix the dents too. if he does paintless dent repair, i won't have to get my quarter panel or door repainted, if he doesn't do paintless dent repair, i guess he'll have to repaint pretty much the whole car... :/
