Early Shifting Problem

Hi guys i have a question. My 04 coupe Hits 4TH Gear when its doing like 27MPH. When it hits second gears almost immediately it hits third gear then fourth. I am wondering if this is normal. Also it eats up a lot of gas. Like a 20 minute drive on the highway doing 65-70 will eat up a quarter of the gas. My car just hit 78k miles and its automatic. Thanks

wow wow, 20 minutes eats up a quarter of your gas, that would mean that you only get about 100 miles a tank.

I think you are exagerating a lot.

lets just say you are doing 70 MPH, after 1 hour, you have gone 70 miles and gone through 3/4 of your tank.

Check your gas tank or gas line for leaks if this is the case.

Kinda its a 2 way trip so ya but its under an hour its more like 40 minutes. I was stupid enough not to ask what type of gas the previous owner put on it when i bought it. So i call her up the other day and she tells me that she put Regular ever since she got it in 05 and i bought it in the summer. I'm putting premium.

Only reason why it'll shift to 4th is to save you gas. Not a bad thing, If you're not getting on it, It'll go to higher gear, lower Rpms = not burning as much.

But 20min drive??? maybe if you're booking it for 20mins 100+ yea sounds normal lol
Also depends on your driving, Do you get on it everytime you switch a lane? I've seen some wreckless people so everything is possible.
Throw it on cruise control and make things right.

No i drive regular , im 17 so i cant be driving that crazy. the cops stop me just because im driving the car. Also when the car is turned on the needle shows less gas than when you turned the car off. does that happen to anyone else or is it normal.

So is it a good thing for it to be shifting that fast, its doing it at 2000rpms. should i go get it checked out or what. this is my first car so.

My G will do that too. Most notably when it's below 1/4 tank. No big deal. It normally goes back slowly.
