If I remember correctly, they're supposed to do that so that air pressure doesn't get built up and push against the windows when you close or open the door. All newer cars/higher brand named cars feature this.

It rolls down so it doesn't hit the top door frame. If you open the door, you'll notice its a frameless window. If it didn't roll down, it would smack the top of the door. You don't see that "rolldown" on framed windows, which is on most cars.

This is the correct answer.

Late model Mustangs have the same system.

No, I'm not talking about the mm roll up, that's on both sides. I'm talking about just the passenger window. It rolls down about 6inches and stays down!

I know what you are saying...my driver side window does this all the time! Everytime I shut the door the window rolls down about 6 inches. Its annoying!

Do a search for "window motor reset". It's a very simple procedure that should fix the issue.

In theory this makes sense, but in practice, it's not gonna happen. I was recently concerned about this when my window motor stopped working. I wound the window all the way up manually and closed the door. Then I disconnected the motor harness. The glass has more than enough clearance!
