^ uhhh k... you can't drift an auto G. And I would take the Z drifting hands down waaaay before a G coupe. The Z is planted, unlike the coupe.

Sell your car and buy something that's already stick.

Sounds like the age old "I want to build a 500hp drift car, but it's my daily driver"

Thread fails

As everyone has said, no. It's rediculous. One older cars no problem.

I drift my G35. I've done over 15 events. I wouldn't want any other car for a drift car. I do have to agree the swap is not worth it.

You do not need to do a whole lot for the suspension. I had the same suspension mods as a friend and it was no different. My car could hang out longer because of the wheel base. 19's are expensive, if you buy expensive tires. 18's are more common and affordable.

I agree, you can't clutch kick without a clutch.

You would take a 350z over the G? I know many 350z owners that would prefer a G35 over theirs. It seems many people who do not drift would take something for no real reason. My 385whp drift car has been my daily for almost 2 years. Now i'm building for more power... that will be a surprise once it's done. I'm not making any HP claims, I'll let the dyno figure that out... Built motor with custom PowerLab kit and Much more.

um a stock G is a 4x4 with cushy suspension.... it will drift, but its not really realistic. the statistic with you vs you friend is a pretty weak one.

19's generally are expensive across the board.... 18's are cheaper, but still your going to be running **** poor tires. some 16's would be more on the lines of affordable.

Lo1984TT - your drifting on varrs? not worried?

lol. I will clarify... between me and my friend...

2004 G35 KSport Kontrol Pro Coilovers
2004 G35 Stillen Sways

2004 350z KSport Kontrol Pro Coilovers
2004 350z Hotchkiss sways

Usually when people refer to Suspension mods... this is not mean my and my friend with stock suspension.

Before I upgraded my suspension, the car was a big tuna boat. It drifted, I could link turns. Was it easy? No. Do people do it all the time? Yes. Merely adding sways was a difference.

Your statement of **** poor tires is weak. Do you drift? How much about drifting do you really know? The funny thing is, people that drift don't expect anything to be cheap. I've drifted Continentals, Goodyears, Federals, Nittos and a few others. A more expensive tire may not be the best for one person as for another.

If someone wants to be cheap about it drifting is not the way to go. I've went through $600 worth of tires in a weekend.

Putting a G on 16's? Seriously? If you ( I don't me you, I mean a person in general) can't afford to drift on 18's or 19's or worst case 17's, don't bother drifting. I wouldn't drift anything under an 18. That is preference. 17 burn very fast with higher horsepower.

How much drifting have you done? I don't mean drifting on water in a parking lot or around corners or late night street drifting, I mean real drifting on track with tandem. Drifting is different from road racing. A ****ty tire for one driver can be gold to another.

ok I was going to say... I mean minivans can drift but ....haha.

The tire comment is still valid. your only going to get ****ty tires for cheap. not baging on what tires you have drifted on.

I'm not referencing the G. I don't see drifting a G really worth it as you stated its an expensive sport. If I was going to get into it I would use something with less power and smaller to keep the expenses down.

I don't drift... I'm just surrounded by enthusiasts with money to burn.

I was going to get some for my G, but I'm probably going to sell it. Just interested because I was reading people don't recommend cast wheels since they don't have the strength. Have you faced any problems? I had spider cracks on my cast wheels in the past just from spirited driving.

lol, 1993 Toyota previa in Japan drifts... although the one I saw when I was there some how had a 2jz in it. I don't know how.

People get confused on tires. Federals are great for many people, the tire is consistant. It rides fine. I, personally, would not call this ****ty. I've spent some money on tires, Toyo's aren't any better for me than a Bridgestone.

Many people wouldn't want to drift a G because of the cost. For me, I wanted one and I wanted to drift. I don't mind spending money to play. My G has money into it, a good amount. I'm building a motor and a new turbo set up, cage, and EMS. Not cheap again, but I love it and to me it's worth every minute and every penny to me. Dont' get me wrong, when my car is fully done in the next three months I do plan to by a missile car. probably an FC (RX-7) maybe with an LS1 to play with. Trust me, at least once a month I ask myself WTF and I thinking. If you tagged a wall, how would you feel? Strangely for me it was invigorating and couldn't wait to get close enough to scrape again. You should have it a shot. It's addicting.

I haven't had any problems at all. I've drifted at up speeds 70+ with the wheel clipping the ground, i've mashed rumble strips and they are still great. I do inspect them. I am planning on selling them because I am looking at Volk G2's. I need a different wheel, I am looking for a forged wheel. The cast statement is one that I have heard and thankfully haven't experienced.

hahah well thats not fair. Yeah I get your point on the tires.

YEah if I had the money to blow I can only imagine what I would get my dirty hands into. Your car looks like a blast. I have copiloted in my friends suby, but its always been on my mind to try. One of these days.

Yeah I would be cautious. I picked up the stock forged wheels again after what happened to me.

So what are you going to do about your G? Are you still going to change it out for Manual or your going to sell it to get a manual G? if you want to drift you might as well do that

If your drifting just for fun, the suspension is soft enough where you can induce a oversteer slide on a corner until the traction control kicks in. Cost stand point, just setup your suspension for extreme oversteer. Obviously, that setup would be dangerous for a street setup, so keep that in mind.

If you wanna drift like you see in formula D, you need basically Hp..ie turbo, supercharger, suspension and a manual.

I haven't really read much of this thread at all but a stock G, even an auto, can slide around little turns and go around parking lots for those little fun night outs. Personally, I wouldn't try to make it a dedicated drift car though. Also the nice thing about the G is that if you do manage to lose it a little, the car is very forgiving and easy to recover from a mistake.
