G is terrible on snow, snow tires or chains?
I have a 2005 coupe 6mt featured on the thread "Human intake" It snowed two inches last night. On the way home from work (got there fine) i couldnt touch the gas pedal without fishtailing and sliding out of control. Accords, fiestas, and other little cars were passing me left and right. I was going up a SLIGHT grade and my car kept sliding to the right and almost ended up hitting a curb. I had some friends try to push me a little but the car had absolutely no traction. I have rays with sport tires on them. I dont want to get snow tires if they will only help minimally. Will tire chains help more? Money is not really an issue but i dont want to have to get a set of rims and tires.
thanks
edit. It looked like the treads were completely full of snow so it was basically like driving on slicks. Is this what snows are designed to eliminate?

Your first problem is the tires. Summer tires aren't meant for winters. Accords and fiestas don't have "high performance summer" tires so that's why they are passing you. All you need is a good set of winters and common sense to be safe. I just plowed through a foot of snow with my G Coupe and it was easy. It snowed at least 15inches in one day and no problems.
Winter tires are not only meant for snow. They are meant to grip the road in cold weather conditions so think about that or store the G.

I have brand new all seasons and when theres fresh snow or any ice my car wants to spin around on me too. I put chains on and it still kicks out a little bit but its much better. The downside is going really slow and scuffing up the wheels...Chains are only 50$...winter tires are like 500$ a pair. If i could I would get some new wheels n winter tires but i cant afford it

It's amazing when people say they can't drive a car with summer tires in the winter.... Wonder why tires are classified by seasons lmao!!!
Either ways, this is my first winter with RWD and it's not bad. The only downside is when there's lots of snow. The G is compressing it under the underbody and it sucks.

snow tires. i drive my car ALL YEAR ROUND. there are literally like 3-5 days where i can't because of heavy snowfall.
The G is fine with winter tires, the other day i was passing 4X4's it makes a NIGHT and DAY difference.
buy winter tires and rims, get blizzacks, they have excellent grip for starting, stopping and at driving speeds. I still turn corners quickly with them.
chains are a waste of time IMO.
i live and drive in Canada where we eat snow for breakfast everyday for 6 months.
When you start sliding out, foot off the gas, car usually straightens.
