Anybody replace their quarter windows?

I broke mine and I'm looking into non-glass alternatives. I was thinking about cutting out some 1/4" or 1/8" clear polycarbonate.
I think the weight I'll saving is measured in ounces.
Anybody replace their own windows? Any tips?

replace the glass, just take the car to the glass shop with a used piece of glass, it should not be more then $50 to have it professionally installed.

go to a local auto glass shop.. thats a side window so id go cheap and some china made glass. I would guess that the cost would be around $100-$120 from a local auto glass shop installed. My buddy's family had one that I was around for a bit and thats the avg cost.

Nah my bro was trying to borrow my car to go to work, started it, got out and somehow locked it, and got locked out.
So I tried to use my snake hook (golf club, but a hook at the end instead, 36") to reach in and hit a window button, lock button, anything to get access ya know.
And I didn't put anything under it, so at one point I pushed too much on the hook, and shattered the quarter window.

Talked to a couple shops today. One quoted me 325. The other gave me some more information.
The quarter window has a frame around it, a brand new one (window and frame come together) from the dealer is $425.
They can put in a piece of glass cut to fit, and as he said "Mickey Mouse" it in there, and it's not gonna look good, For $190.
If he woulda said MacGyver'ed it in there, I'd be down.
So they're looking around for a used one, probly gonna run between 190 and 425.

Wouldn't it be cool to make it like a lens so you can see farther?

i guess u didn't know that the smaller the glass the more expensive it was to replace. should have gone through the window or windshield.. Or call a lock smith?

Last I checked, locksmiths do not replace windows, I think it's a different department.
I used my snake hook to break into my previous cars when I've needed to.
Problem is that it's just not long enough for the G
