every 3k miles? isnt that overkill? I go every 10k on synthetic and the oil light never comes on, dip stick always looks good and I never have issues. meineke says I can prob do up to 15k depending on my driving style...but def change the oil and filter everytime. and buy the supplies yourself to reduce costs

If the oil looks dirty, it means it's doing it's job. If the oil looks new after 5k miles something aint right. Purpose of oil is to lube, cool and remove carbon deposits and other crap (metal shavings) and keep them suspended.

This is why oil looks darker. I change it every 4 months or every 3.5k which ever comes first.

I have the same issue with that smell. If im at a stop light, idle I smell it. Start moving it goes away. I called the local dealer today and asked if they could "smell my car". I reported it awhile ago, but they did not smell anything then. Of course today when I was near them it did not smell, but on my way home it was there again.. inside and outside the car.

smells like when a vacuum cleaner belt breaks.

still clueless haha I ordered a new in cabin air filter. Im hoping maybe the filter will help keep that smell out of the interior! Unless I have the AC on with the vents i can smell the burnt rubber odor. Oyyyy i hope someone comes to the bottom of this!

mine had a burning smell, but it narrowed it to the valve cover cylinder tube oil leak. when its warmed up it smells of burning right over the back tube thats cracked and leaking slow. its going to be my spring project. I change the oil every 3k and its barely even low, so it isnt' a priority right now......maybe this is the "burning smell you are smelling......tires are made of oil so an untrained nose might think they smell alike.....just my .02 cents......good luck with it....

Odor in car

I have been suffering from the same issue for several thousand miles. My local Infiniti dealer states that the issue could very well be the tension on the drive belt(s)...hmm...they placed a call to the Nissan/Inifiniti engineers...no one seems to understand/know what the resolution is. I drove a loaner G37 today and did smell a hint of "burning"...not sure what it is myself, but it does cause me concern...what happens when my warranty expires!!!!!?????

i changed out my in-cabin air filter. it doesnt smell as strong in the car now haha but it still smells under the hood and outside of the car. During my next oil change/belt replacement I will ask the techs if they have any idea what it could be. Maybe they could find something that I missed.
