Smells of hot/burning rubber
I'm getting a burning smell as well. I've had it the last couple of days so I'm thinking I might just 'break down' and take it to the shop to see what they can find. For starters, I know I need to get an oil change and I'm hoping it's not an oil consumption issue (if so, I'll be considering getting rid of the car since it's out of warranty).
My car smells kind of like burning oil/burning electrical or something ....just weird is all I can say. I love the ride but damn, everytime I turn around; it's something new (or at least it feels that way)

I recently purchased my 07'. Drove it home and upon getting it my garage I can smell burning rubber. I let it go at first because I thought it was the new tires on my car. The smell persisted to where I can smell it when coming to a stop at a light. I finally went under the car and found that the rubber shifter boot was not put on right. The boot (what was left of it) was dangling and rubbing against the driveshaft. Most of the boot was shredded from the friction and I had black rubber shaving in the DS tunnel...removed the boot clean the area up...smell gone. Now I need a new boot.
I am new to this forum bought an '07 a couple of months ago and have noticed a strong rubber burning smell. Thanks for the advice I am due for a oil change and will have the dealer check the "the rubber shifter boot "
My fidings on burnt smell
I also had the burnt plastic smell. In chasing a different problem on my '03 I replaced the valve cover gaskets. When I removed the old ones I notice the rubber seals had hardened and the small ribs had virtually disappeared I also saw that oil was burning off as it leaked off the back of the engine. I put in the new seals and for a week now the smell has been absent.
I recently Purchase an 06 6mt and I noticed a hot plastic smell. I too thought it was a plastic bag somewhere melting but no such luck. I also have noticed that it seems strongest next to the firewall / rear engine area. It does not smell like hot rubber, it smells exactly like a plastic bag melting.
