Rust is like cancer for a vehicle. It must be cut out, or the panel replaced, in order to stop it. If it's very light surface rust that hasn't eaten deeply into the metal you might be able to sand it out, treat the area with a rust inhibitor found at your local auto body supply store, then prime and repaint the area.

Short term you could just paint over it, but it will continue to eat away at the metal under the paint until you have a bigger problem to deal with. This method is not recommended.

This advice comes too late for you for this particular issue, but for future reference it's wise to get touch-up paint on any paint chips a.s.a.p. to help prevent rust from getting a foothold.

Autoparts stores have an item that stops rust, not sure how it works but that's something worth looking into if your rust issue is minor.

Wait... What's rusting? It sounds like you are talking about the interior of your car. Surely you don't have black doors on a DG sedan, do you?

Maybe I'm missing something...

Try some CLR (Calcium, Lime & Rust) its in a grey plastic bottle and you can get it almost anywhere... Lowes, home depot, walmart and so forth... I have used it before and it worked good for the things i used it in/on. just let is soak, it will/should kill the rust and keep it from coming back for a while.

Take it to the dealer. The car should still be under "corrosion" warranty. It's 7 years from the date the car was originally purchased.
