Looking getting an 03 G35, got some ?'s

Hey guys, this is my first post. I have been looking on the forum for the past few days and have searched for known problems and been just kinda doing some research on the car itself.

Heres what Im looking at getting. http://www.teamoneusedcars.com/inven...reowned&page=1
-2003 G35 Coupe, automatic (manuals are hard to find in my area, trust me I have looked)
-Silver (would prefer black, but again would have better luck finding a unicorn)
-44,000 miles
-black leather
-$12,995

I think its a good deal considering the mileage and overall condition of the vehicle. It was involved in an accident a few years ago, the salesman said it was a minor hit, and on the carfax says it was reported and then passed inspection 2 days later so must have not needed major repair. Did some more research and found that it was listed on ebay by the dealer and never sold, only got up to $6600. So with it listed on so many sites and them owning it since Nov 1, 2010 I think I can get them to about $12,500 out the door does that sound pretty good? Just want your take on the vehicle.

I have not driven it yet, Im going on saturday to do so its about 2 hours away so that was the only time I could go and check it out. I currently drive a 2005 Ford F150 that is lifted alittle and has big tires, I used to live in Northern Michigan so it was needed for snow and such. Well now I live near detroit and the winters arent as bad and im sick of putting gas in this hog. So im looking at a G35.

Ok so heres my main question, Im a big guy 6'2" 280lbs. Im worried about comfort, I had a 2004 Cadillac CTS a few years back and was comfortable in that and a guy I work with says they are similar and I should be fine, but want to get some points of view from actual owners and see how they compare to my large stature. Sorry about teh long first post but wanted to give you adequate info on my situation. Thanks

LOL.

I wouldn't buy an auto if you really want a manual, keep looking (no matter how long it takes...). Same with the color, it took me a year to find a black 6MT.

Nice low mileage, but the wreck is always a worry. Of course the salesman said the wreck was minor, I doubt he even knows anything about the wreck. The G isn't the best in the snow or on gas. If it snows a lot I'd at least get winter tires. Depending on how heavy your foot is changes your MPG a good bit.

I'm 6'2 and have plenty of headroom. But I weigh a good bit less so you may want to wait for someone else to chime in there.

The G isn't going to be that much better. I average about 15-17 mpg with about 90% city driving.

oil consumption, window motors, rear axel squeak, tire tread life......

Good luck..... sounds like a good deal

Thanks for the input...

as for having a manual, I would like one, definitely would be more fun but would really get me in trouble but its not a must. Same thing with the color black would be great but I also like the silver and still looks bada$$.

I plan on getting snow tires if do get the G35, probably not this year but definitely next. And for MPG's right now I get like 13-14 mpg and having the G35 getting upwards to 26 on the highway will really help drop the bill for gas. I am a good driver and have always had rear wheel drive vehicles and have lived in a snowy climate my entire life, not saying an accident wont happen but my knowledge will help.

I also just read up on the valve cover leaking problem and will be checking into that also, and for the accident there is a copy of the police report online that I can pay to view.

I wouldn't count on over 21 mpg, but maybe my foot is defective...

Don't think I'm trying to scare you away, this is the most fun car I've ever had.

I do mostly highway driving and thats what drains the gas in my F150, and having it lifted and bigger tires isnt helping. So if I can average 13-14 in a 5.4 V8 Im sure I can get 20+ in a V6. I put $50 in my truck on monday morning gave me a half a tank and im just below a quarter today...and thats only to and from work. Im sure my mpg's wont be that great in the beginning since I will be having fun with it but I think I can learn to conserve

If you are really considering this vehicle I would check to see if any of the common issues have been addressed. My vehicle is an 04 auto and needed both window motors replaced. If the seller says this vehicle had a minor crash you should also ask for pictures of such as most keep for record purposes. Good luck with this and hope the vehicle you buy gives you as much satisfaction as mine has!

its a dealer and the car spent half its life in Washington DC so I dont think they have any pics of the wreck...I just purchased the accident report online and it will be emailed to me within a couple hours so I will have the extent of that here shortly.

I keeping a list of some of the known problems to look for so keep em coming...and any other big guys G35 owners out there let me know your thoughts on the interior space. Thanks

Ok just got the accident report. The car was rear ended, not bad just alittle bump to the rear by a 1989 toyota corolla in a 25mph zone. It was dry conditions, the corolla just was following too close and hit the G35. No injuries, and both cars drove away from the scene. So no major damage was done and it was 20,000 miles ago, I still will be looking for structural damage but looks like it wasnt bad.

check the mileage sequence. Although you did not get warning for mileage rollback, but you will get it marked once you purchase the car and register.

pm me your email, i will forward you my autocheck

Great job on the autocheck! I hope people who do the mileage roll back go to jail!! I do not understand why people do this, the older I get the less problems I want. I just wished more people would think the same way! Good luck on your search and do not worry I waited 3 years before I bought my G.
