05' G35 coupe driver's airbag??

Hey guys,

I'm a new to this forum and I just bought an 05' coupe

the car had a minor accident and the driver's airbag deployed.. So the previous owner decided to only fix it by gluing and painting it back together. It looks OK! but the horn does not work right now! could this be the cause of this problem ??

Also I asked the dealership if they can install a used one that I can purchase from Ebay and they told me NO " for safety purposes!!" Anyway I tried to take off the other day but the 2 screws holding the airbag looked weird! they need a special type of screwdriver?? and if I happen to find that screwdriver how could it be reset ??

Thank you.. please help me if you can

Airbags don't tend to deploy in 'minor' accidents. It's usually significant damage when an airbag deploys. It's likely the reason your horn doesn't work, and I would have a dealer install an airbag. It's a pretty important safety item to be missing.

Its also illegal to drive a car without a horn. I'd take it to a mechanic immediately as no horn... no airbag and a sketchy history means your driving a death trap.

The car is awesome, everything works fine and it looks great. I got it for a really good price. The only problem is the horn and the driver's airbag, which I think is a related problem.

I just need to know if it was possible to replace it with a used one because the dealership told that they don't install a used one if I bought from somewhere else. I cant spend more than $300 on it right now ? If it is not possible, I'll have to wait and get a new airbag, that's all

I know its dangerous that's why I want to fix it ! But the dealership quoted something ridiculous.. that's why im looking for alternatives "USED AIRBAGS"

i have an airbag from an 05 coupe. the car had an interior burn in the rear seat area. the airbag is fine but the heat enhanced the way the tear lines on the cover stand out if it were to deploy. doesnt look bad if your not **** but you can always buy a new cover or use the one you have now. also need to know if your car was manufactured FROM 12/04 or THRU 11/04 as the airbags are different between the 2.

Have you tired calling or asking different Infiniti dealers? They might not all say no.

Most likely the horn doesn't work because of the airbag but it also could be because the horns got hit in the accident. It's not very hard to replace the airbag yourself. You will just have to get someone to reset the light. Those screws are torx safety screws and you can get them at most auto stores. Here is a great diy https://g35driver.com/forums/interio...nt-w-pics.html

the horn mechanism is behing the air bag so most likely the guy forgot to plug back in the wire when he put it back on. get one off ebay. the screws that hold it in are safety torques they look like a 6 point star with a hole in the middle i bought one and the auto parts place for like 5 bucks. you will also either have to replace or send it to get reset the airbag module. what color is the air bag?

thanks you guys a lot for the help

I was just wondering if I get one off ebay and put it in, how can it be reset since the dealership is not willing to do it?

my car has a tan interior but the airbag is kinda brownish.
