No wonder the stock Radio's are going bad - the heat may be killing them.!

I dont have NAV in my G, but I can tell it gets super hot back there because when I reach in to grab my cell phone out of that storage area, its always really hot in there when the heats on, I cant imagine how hot it is behind all that junk. Maybe some kind of heat wrap on the hvac ducting would keep some temps down? Seems kind of hard core, but if you got a lot of loot invested in your stereo, it may be worth the trouble....

I don't think your heater is blowing on the CD player. You are probably touching the heat sink on the back of the CD player which draws heat out of the CD player. SO it's suppose to get very hot. Especially on a unit that is not very well built.

Had mine since 05 (bought new) and have no issues with the HU or radio. Lived in the northwest for the last five years and have used the radio continually and the heat almost continually - it doesn't get really warm up here.
Don't know what to tell you. Mine works as advertised and will be six years old tomorrow.

I don't drive my car in the winter over here.. so I very rarely use the heat in my G35, and my stock head unit's CD player went bad.
If it's as a result of heat that this is happening, at least in my case, it's not because of the car's HVAC system heat. It may be just from heat generated from the radio itself running, or perhaps from heat in the car as a result of it being hot in the summer.
