03's-'04s, did your radio stop working?

hey guys. theres another thread going around talking about the heat being the possible reason for our radios going down so it got me thinking, how many of us actually have faulty stereos. i have an 03 coupe with 53k miles and mine still works like a charm. what about you guys? if your radio is broken, at what mileage did it happen?

I'm 04 @ 77k and my radio still works. I don't play CDs that much because I use my Zune with the cassette adapter. I'm always listening to it while I'm driving.

'04, CD player doesn't play sound from one side and makes crackling noises. It only does it with CD's though, so I just don't use the CD player anymore and play my music all from an MP3 Player that I feed to the head unit through one of those tape-deck converters. Works perfect and I don't have to dick around with CD's anymore.

The CD player thing is a widely known problem, and everyone with the Bose 6-disc changer will have the problem eventually assuming they actually use their CD player.

Driver side speaker stopped working when playing CD's. So I had it replaced at the dealer.

Mine broke at 53,000 miles and i have an 03!!! but i agree with the rest of the people i use the tape deck converter to use with my iphone, works like way better and dont have to worry about changing cds when you get tired of them but it is kind of depressing that it breaks before the car even hits 60k miles

is the malfunction inevitable or is it a luck of the draw sort of situation

Luck of draw. Some peoples radios dont break but their circuit boards go haywire. Some people lose the cd player. Some peoples AC goes on full blast and wont shut off.
