I had the same problem it took a few good drops to finally latch it and after that it was fine. I was scared to drop a cf hood hard and have it bust the latch through the top but it was okay.

Did you remove bump stops and adjust the latch? Sometimes I have to adjust the latch, up/down so that the hoods hook properly. Usually the SEIBON Carbon Fiber Hoods are a pretty good fit.

Space the hood latch out with washers. Maybe it isn't going down far enough.

I saw a guy on a 350z forum did that but its the only thing I didn't try..I guess I'll put 3 washers on each bolt?

Make sure you do not install the hydraulic arms, they will warp the hood.

See if the latch is striking extra fiberglass in the latch area of the hood. For instance if the factory didn't sand or remove extra fiberglass in the latch hole this might also be the cause of your problem. Also if the latch needs to be brought forward you might want to put washers on your front latch. Has your G35 been in an accident or have any frame damage?

Pop the grill out and grab a flash light, so that you can check the latch adjustment, I had to dremel out the slots on the latch before to a couple cars as the length even at the highest point was still to short for the latch to fully close.
