car wont start when turning key.
Hey everyone, Well i am watching my friends 04 G35 Coupe while he is on leave. And there have been a few times when i turn the key that it wont do anything. Yes i press the clutch, i have tried putting it in gear and also neutral and still wont do anything. Has anyone had this problem? What do you think it might be?

can you push start it? find the clutch switch....hold the ign key to the start pos and keep pressin the clutch switch in with your hand as many times as you can. if it wants to start, then thats your problem.
Is it turning over but not firing?...if so, is the anti-theft light on solid while it is cranking? If that's the case, the ignition is not recognizing the chip in the key & may need reprogrammed, it happened to me. It was an intermittent problem
nah he told me to drive it while i was looking for a car. yea its intermittent. happens every now and again, its done it to him a few times also. Im gonna have him try to get the key reprogrammed when he gets back

my bet is the clutch switch then. either its defective or not pushed down all the way. why dont u try and push it with ur hand while turning the key or have someone turn the key? jus look at the clutch pedal and u can see the switch.
I have an 03 and my engine wont crank unless i hit the clutch down real hard. My first though was the Starter is taking a crap but after reading this thread i think i'ma replace the clutch switch...
Your buddies starter is on the way out. The solenoid is sticking.
Carry piece of wood with you and a hammer, and the next time it does this, put the piece of wood on the starter and smack the other end of the wood with the hammer kinda solidly. The sudden jarring motion will often temporarily free a stuck solenoid. If this makes it work, the starter needs to be either rebuilt or replaced.
Also check your connections on the battery to make sure they aren't all caked with battery acid and ensure they're tightly fastened to the terminals.
