100K Mile G35?

I bought an '03 6MT about a month and a half ago with 119k on it and it hasn't had any major problems at all. Only a few little things like the door lock actuators need to be replaced and the trunk light was out; stuff like that. The lady's son put a stage 2 clutch on it at 115k and I got it for $9,500.

Man, a lot of hate for the higher mileage cars. As someone said before, the miles worry me less than the way it was cared for. If the car had regular maintenance and wasn't constantly driven on the ragged edge then I would have no problem purchasing one for the right price. I would never pay retail, say 10K for one over 100k but its worth a look. I bought mine with 84 and it now has going on 109K with no problems at all. I bought an extended warranty just in case but I never once needed it. The only thing I had to replace (beside wear and tear items) was the camshaft position sensor. I had a 350z and put 100K on that car with relatively no issues as well. So far my experience with this chassis and VQ motor has been worth it. Just do some research and get someone to inspect the car if you don't feel comfortable yourself. The cosmetic items: paint, interior, under body pieces can usually give a clue to the type of care that was given to the car.

Got my 04 G35 for 8K with 92K miles 6MT. No problems with it, no oil burning issues or transmission issues. Clutch was replaced at 77K miles and i think the transmission is CD009 because signs of 3rd and 5th gear issue would be obvious by now, it shifts butter smooth.
Overall in clean condition with very minor cosmetic dings by the drivers handle and the common G35 problems like fuel tank level indicator and door aculators which Ive already fixed via the alternative method.
Still have some suspension noises to track down and to grease the axles which is no big deal.

When you buy used, you are buying reliability. Our cars rank near the top on just about every reliability benchmark right behind Hondas and Toyotas, so I would not be scared away as there are some excellent deals to be found on high mileage cars that are in excelllent condition. Specifically, I would not fear a high mileage G and often recommend them to friends and colleagues looking for an excellent used vehicle in the 10k range.
However, I would be cautious because the maint. history could vary wildly between two cars which appear exactly the same on paper.
Personally, I would look for the following: Original Owner, limited to no mods, private seller, detailed service records with at least a portion of the service being done at Infiniti dealerships, an owner that understands cars to some degree and can speak to the service history and usage of the vehicle (i.e. garaged most of its life), clean car-fax, and preference for a car from a moderate climate such as the southwest.
Something like this one would warrant some additional follow up. Before contacting the owner, I would grab the VIN off Autotrader and run it past the local dealership here in town to get some idea of the service history.

bought mine with 149k miles, paid 8.5k, keep looking, stay away from car lots if at all possible you get a much more solid deal from personal sellers, and usually the cars haven't been put back together with duck tape and gum. There are people on here that are saying 100k+ mile cars require more maintenance, and they said belts and hoses.... last time i checked tune ups (spark plugs, belts, hoses, etc) are not 4-5K expensive, and you still need to replace belts and hoses on 50k+ mile car. yeah the timing chain/clutch is expensive, but serious $5k+ expensive?

I bought my 2006 G35 6MT Coupe with 36k miles for $12,000. Sadly, it took me 6 months to find this. 100k miles for $12k is average for San Diego, CA value. I know that for sure because for 6 months of searching... I know enough to know how much people post their cars for! lol.
Also, the year matters ALOT. 2003 - 2004 you can find a 100k mi g35 coupe for $8000 ~ $10,000. A 2005 ~ 2007 (which would be harder to find) you can find a 100k mi g35 coupe from $10,000 ~ $14,000.
Again, I found mine by luck. It had Indiana plates (now has CA plates). Im the third owner. Second owner is from the Navy and he just wanted to get rid of it because he has 4 other cars.
Anyways, whatever your decision is... Good Luck!! (If I were you, I'd search a little more and wait for a better offer)
